[00:00:00] We'll truth, Daily This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.
[00:00:30] He was just to human being and he's never coming back. Why is he taking so long?
[00:00:38] You ever thought the same thing? Why is it that Jesus? And every generation since Christ has thought
[00:00:43] that Jesus was going to come back in their lifetime, including our generation.
[00:00:47] And so the question I have for you is, I affirm the fact that you're probably a believer, right?
[00:00:53] I pray so. But you may be wondering too, why is Jesus taking so long? It's been 2,000 years. Why has he come already?
[00:01:02] Why is he taking so long? What's the problem? Well, listen to Matthew chapter 25 verses 1 through 6.
[00:01:11] Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like 10 virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the brideroom.
[00:01:16] Five of them were foolish and five were wise. We've talked about that already. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them.
[00:01:23] Yesterday we said that the oil remember is the word of God. But the wise took flasked to the oil with their lamps.
[00:01:30] Now verse 5 and 6 as the brideroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. Now listen to this.
[00:01:37] The brideroom usually came in the evening, maybe 8 or 9 o'clock. It was dark. This is why they had lamps. It was dark.
[00:01:44] They wanted to light the way for the brideroom to go to the bride house and then they would light the way all the way back to his house. This is why they had lamps.
[00:01:51] As the brideroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. Listen to this.
[00:01:55] But at midnight that was way past the time. Most of the time the brideroom would show up again.
[00:02:01] He'd shop about 8 or 9 o'clock. It's midnight. They're tired. They're drowsy. They fall asleep. Listen to this.
[00:02:08] Then verse 6 says, but at midnight there was a cry. Here is the brideroom. Come out to meet him.
[00:02:18] So finally he shows up. He didn't come when they really expected him and they had fallen asleep.
[00:02:25] So here's the answer to the question. So many times Christ has not come when people kind of expected him to come and remember we've maintained the premise that Jesus is going to come suddenly quickly
[00:02:38] unexpectedly at a time we least expect it. But suddenly he will come and what's going to happen then? Well, and why has he terried so long? Why does he continue to wait?
[00:02:51] That's the big question we asked here just a few minutes ago. Why is he waiting? Here's why second Peter chapter 3 verse 9 says it beautifully.
[00:03:00] For the Lord is not slow in his promises as some consider slowness. But he is patient with everyone, not wanting anyone to perish but that all my come to repentance did you hear that?
[00:03:14] He's waiting as long as possible for as many people as possible to repent of their sin and put their trust in him. So indeed if that's the case and it is he's waiting for that neighbor of yours to hear about Jesus.
[00:03:29] He's waiting for that coworker to hear about Jesus. He's waiting for that family member that's gone astray and no longer goes to church and may not believe in Jesus anymore
[00:03:40] He's waiting for you to tell them about Jesus and encourage them to come back to church this is why he's waiting.
[00:03:48] He's waiting so that more and more people would turn towards him and put their trust in him and be saved. So what does that mean for us? It means be about the Lord's work.
[00:03:59] It's amazing to me how many churches we've talked about this I think before it's amazing to me how many churches lose their mission mindset and their mission seal
[00:04:09] And they start to do business as usual. Let's just feed the faith of those who are here and not worry about the loss remember the great commission
[00:04:18] The last will in testament of our Lord Jesus Christ the last words to the church were you're to be a witness in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the other most parts of the earth someone
[00:04:30] Those people had seen that's a witness had seen what Christ had done and now they were to testify to as many people as possible about who he is and why he came my friends this is why Jesus is waiting
[00:04:42] He wants as many people as possible to come to faith. So there is the answer to the question why is he waiting?
[00:04:49] You want some more and more in his family. So be about the father's work, be about the Lord's business tell someone about Jesus and if possible do it today
[00:05:00] And that is today's daily truth have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ.
