[00:00:00] Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. Do you sometimes pray for people in your life
[00:00:13] that are far from God, that are a tough catch for the kingdom of God? I mean they resist,
[00:00:20] they make fun of Christianity, you continue to invite them to church, they rebuff and rebuke
[00:00:25] you, you pray for them but you think this is just a lost cause. There is no hope for this
[00:00:32] person, this person will never come to faith. I think I'm just going to move on to somebody
[00:00:36] else and I know there's portions of scripture that say that as a matter of fact Jesus said
[00:00:40] disciples when you go to a town and they reject you just shake the dust off your feet and
[00:00:45] move on. I understand that but should we ever give up on people and think there's
[00:00:50] no way they're ever going to come to faith? You know there are lost cause.
[00:00:54] Well we're in the book of Matthew chapter 21 and this is remember this is right on the heels of
[00:01:00] Palm Sunday and verse 14 we picked this up and the blind in the lame came to him,
[00:01:05] this is after he cleared the temple and the blind in the lame came to him in the temple
[00:01:09] and he healed them. We talked about this yesterday now verse 15 but when the chief
[00:01:14] priest in the scribe saw the wonderful things that Jesus did and the children crying out
[00:01:19] in the temple, Hosanna to the son of David they were indignant. What? And they said to him,
[00:01:28] do you hear what these are saying and Jesus said to them yes have you never read out of the mouths
[00:01:34] of infants and nursing babies? You prepared praise I'm going to talk about that passage
[00:01:40] tomorrow but think about this think about what the chief priests and the scribes had seen
[00:01:45] okay they heard Jesus come into town people saying hey Hosanna son of David blessed is he
[00:01:51] who comes in the name of the Lord then he clears the temple that ticked him off I'm sure
[00:01:55] he clears the temple the money changers and the business people now the blind are coming to him
[00:02:01] and the lame are coming him to be healed in the temple. They're seeing this they're witnessing
[00:02:06] this the chief priests and the scribes are but what's happening? They're rebuking Jesus
[00:02:11] they're telling him to be quiet they said don't you see what's happening here their eyes were blinded
[00:02:19] now obviously this is the sign of the coming of the messianic kingdom because Isaiah chapter 35
[00:02:26] written 700 years before Jesus of Nazareth ever came on the scene said this is a sign of the
[00:02:32] messianic kingdom then the eyes of the blind shall be opened and the ears of the deaf and stop
[00:02:38] then shall the lame man leap like a deer and the tongue of the mute sing for joy now I gotta ask you
[00:02:47] did the chief priests and the scribes know that verse oh yeah did they know most the Old Testament
[00:02:54] by memory oh yeah and so when these things were happening even though they weren't connecting
[00:03:00] the dots or maybe they were my wife said the only reason they didn't want to recognize Jesus
[00:03:05] as Messiah is they didn't want to lose their position and and their job right because they knew
[00:03:10] if they confessed the name of Jesus they no longer could serve in the temple as the priests right
[00:03:16] so so they're thinking of their job they're thinking of their security but they're starting
[00:03:20] to think I believe and I'm gonna prove here why in just a minute they're starting to think
[00:03:25] maybe he is who he claimed to be
[00:03:32] so what happens later that week he's nailed to a cross three days later he rises from the dead
[00:03:41] and then for 40 days he appears to people many people giving undeniable evidence that he is a
[00:03:48] son of God that he has defeated death that he is the promised Messiah now listen to this this is so cool
[00:03:56] in the book of Acts chapter six verse seven this is obviously after Jesus has ascended up into heaven
[00:04:04] after Pentecost this is what it says in verse seven of Acts chapter six and the word of God
[00:04:10] continued to increase listen to this and the number the disciples multiply greatly in Jerusalem
[00:04:17] here it is and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith what did you hear that these
[00:04:29] hard-hearted stubborn resistant folks who said Jesus is not the Messiah Jesus is not the Messiah
[00:04:37] Jesus is not the Messiah then they started connecting the dots and the Holy Spirit started
[00:04:42] to work on them and then what happened they were brought to faith these hard-hearted stubborn
[00:04:48] resistant guys were brought to faith by the power of the Holy Spirit my friend there are people in
[00:04:54] your life that you think are a lost cause don't quit praying for them there's a fella in bolder
[00:05:03] that i'm working on right now who's been very resistant his wife goes to church but he does
[00:05:07] not go to church and i've talked to him a few times i've established a relationship with him i think
[00:05:13] he likes me because we talk a lot of sports and stuff but he's been very resistant i'm not going
[00:05:18] to give up praying for him and i've even told him there's going to be a day i pray that he
[00:05:24] comes to faith in Jesus and yes he's resistant but i believe as i continue to pray for him
[00:05:32] he's going to come to faith and he's going to join his wife in church there's the same thing with
[00:05:38] certain people in your life it might be a friend it might be a family member it might be someone at
[00:05:45] work it might be someone at school that is so resistant look at how resistant the leaders
[00:05:51] of the of the temple were and finally many of them many of them said okay we get it we've
[00:05:59] connected the dots he's done all this stuff in fulfillment of prophecy we're in i pray for people
[00:06:06] that you know who are so resistant that someday by the holy spirit's power they might say we're in
[00:06:15] okay let me pray for that right now your father i come before you in behalf of this fella that
[00:06:21] i'm thinking of who's been very resistant to coming to church with his wife but lord i believe
[00:06:27] your spirit is working on him and lord it's amazing to me that the chief priests and the scribes
[00:06:34] who were so resistant to the gospel even when jesus was performing miracles in their midst in
[00:06:41] the temple they still resisted but eventually they connected the dots and came to faith by
[00:06:48] the power of the holy spirit lord i pray for the very same thing for people that watch dt
[00:06:54] that have friends or family members who are so resistant to the faith encourage us by your holy
[00:07:01] spirit to continue to pray for them to not give up on them because you never do lord you continue
[00:07:07] to seek them and seek them and eventually we pray you find them and bring them into a saving
[00:07:14] relationship with your son the lord jesus christ god thank you for dt thank you for the opportunity
[00:07:21] you give me to share your word every day and make dt continue to grow but even more importantly lord
[00:07:27] may it impact people who may be wandering away from the faith re-encouraging them to come back to jesus
[00:07:35] to worship him in his temple to join the fellowship of the saints in church and be restored knowing
[00:07:42] indeed that jesus is the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father except
[00:07:49] through him and lord i pray that for those who are very resistant to the faith who are friends of
[00:07:56] the people who are watching dt right now let it be so and let it be done to the glory of your holy
[00:08:02] and saving name you lord jesus christ in your name we pray amen and that is today's daily truth
