[00:00:00] We'll truth Daily This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman And I went to the desk and she had sticky notes all over her desk, on her computer, on the desk, on the little thing next to her, I mean it was amazing how many sticky notes that she had.
[00:00:41] I recently saw a commercial look at this. So why do we have sticky notes? Because we forget things. We forget things. Have you ever walked into a room and you were going to get something? And you couldn't remember why you went into that room? Yep. I have to.
[00:01:04] We forget things. Do you know what? We chiefly and primarily forget about sometimes the promises of the Word of God. Sometimes we're guilty about sin, but we forget about the promises of Jesus. Sometimes we're anxiety-ridden and we upbears. And we forget the promises of Jesus.
[00:01:23] Sometimes we have an identity crisis. We try to find our identity in what people say about us or how many possessions we have or the status and significance that the world says is so important. We have an identity crisis. Why? Because we forget the promises of Jesus.
[00:01:38] And sometimes when we think about our own mortality, we're frightened of death. Unfortunately, even though on this day we say that death has been defeated. Why do we forget so often times the promises of God and the promises of Jesus? Well, the devil wants that way.
[00:01:55] We live in a world that is deceiving and detrimental to our faith. And sometimes our sinful flesh doesn't want to hear the Word of God. Doesn't embrace the Word of God. Stay away from church, stay away from the Word.
[00:02:07] That's why so many times we forget the promises of God and we forget that the tomb is empty. Now the women on Easter Sunday morning went to a night when they thought would be the dead body of Jesus.
[00:02:20] They saw the stone rolled away a couple angels were there declaring something. Now when they saw the angels, they were frightened. The Bible says and they looked down. And this is what it says in verse 5 of Luke 24, why do you seek the living among the dead?
[00:02:38] I love that. In other words, this is a cemetery but somebody's alive. Everybody else here is dead. Why do you seek the living? The living one. Jesus Christ among the dead. He is not here. But it has risen. Remember what he told you.
[00:02:54] All he was still with you and Galilee that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise. Listen to this folks. And the women remembered his words. They remembered his words.
[00:03:16] They had heard Jesus say many times, the Son of Man is going to be handed over to sinful guys. They're going to crucify him. But then here's the good news. I'm going to rise again and they forgot that. And they needed to be reminded of that.
[00:03:34] Do we sometimes forget that we have a living, conquering, death defying, Savior and Jesus Christ in the midst of everything we go through in life? For the guilt of our sin, we have forgiveness. We remember his words. Our fear and apprehension and anxiety.
[00:03:53] Jesus lives and can carry them. He says, cast all your cares on me because I care for you in the face of our identity crisis. We find our identity in Christ Jesus. We find our identity in what God says about us. He says he loves us.
[00:04:08] He forgives us. We belong to him and nothing can separate us from his love. We remember those words. And when it comes to death we don't have to be afraid of it. Why? The tomb is empty. Jesus has defeated death.
[00:04:22] We can look right at the face of death and say, of death where's your sting? Oh, grave where's your victory? The sting of death is sin and the power is sin is a law.
[00:04:30] But thanks be to God who gives me the victory over death through faith in Jesus Christ. My friends, this is where you find comfort. In the promises of Jesus, in the comfort of the Word of God. We remember those words. And then we have peace.
[00:04:47] We remember those words. And we have joy. We remember those words. And we have pardoned and the promise of a life that never ends. Oh, my goodness, my friends. If you're anything like me I need sticky notes all over the place to remind me that
[00:05:03] the tomb is empty. And maybe you do too. Well what is God's sticky notes? God's sticky notes is going to church consistently reading the Word listening to daily truths consistently. Having plaques around your house, the remind you that you're not alone that you face
[00:05:20] every problem and every insecurity in life with the presence and power and pardon of God right by your side, in your heart, upon the plane, in your future. You don't need to be afraid of anything because the tomb is empty. And we remember those words.
[00:05:40] Who is alike for those women when they went to a note, what they thought would be the dead body of Jesus. On Easter Sunday morning, they were fearful. They lacked identity. They lacked purpose. They were frightened. They were overwhelmed.
[00:05:53] But then they remembered the words of the angels spoken initially and originally by Jesus that he would rise again. My friends Christ is risen. And because he is risen, put those mental sticky notes all over the place. All over your mind, all over your heart.
[00:06:15] Because the promises of God never fail, never spoil, never quit, never end and they are truth. They are truth. Daily truths. If you want the truth of God's Word in a world filled with falsity, insecurity and untruths, come to daily truths.
[00:06:39] I will give you the Word of God in its purity every day. The tomb is empty. Jesus is risen and you can face anything alive with the fact that he is by your side, never to forsake you, never to leave you. He is risen. He is risen indeed.
[00:06:58] Amen. And that is today's daily truth. Have a great day. Have a wonderful Easter in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for tuning in to Daily Truths with Dave Olman. Pastor Dave Olman is the pastor of Mount Hoorch, and Boulder Colorado.
