[00:00:00] We'll Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman. It's reiterating it. A lot of times people that aren't believers don't know where marriage came from. Marriage was God's idea.

[00:00:39] And what is marriage? It is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. Not a man, not a woman or a woman.

[00:00:48] Marriage is God's idea and it's a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. When I say lifetime, that means you're pledging and honoring and making the promise

[00:00:58] that you will love that individual, no matter what till death us do part. So marriage is God's idea. What is marriage? It's a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. And why did God create marriage? Well the first reason he created marriage is because of companionship.

[00:01:17] God saw that Adam was alone and so he fashioned and molded this marvelous creature by the name of Eve out of his rib

[00:01:25] and presented her to him and he said, now we're talking. This is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh. This was someone he could talk to, relate to, spend time with, enjoy life with.

[00:01:37] This was a companion. This is the primary reason God established marriage. I love it when a husband and wife says about their husband or wife. He or she is my best friend. That's the way it ought to be.

[00:01:52] My wife is my best friend and I can't imagine not telling her and sharing things with her of things that are going on in my life. Marriage is instituted by God for the number one purpose of companionship. Secondly, the second reason God instituted marriage is for procreation.

[00:02:12] In other words he told Adam an Eve, be fruitful and multiply. In other words, have a lot of kids.

[00:02:19] So many times in our culture and society we look down on children. Children are a gift of God and it's perfectly right, meat and salutary for a couple of say we want to have children. Now if a couple says we don't want to that's their prerogative, that's their choice and that's fine.

[00:02:36] But God said in marriage have children procreate, populate the world be fruitful and multiply. So this is the second reason that God established marriage and the third reason God established marriage is that it's a function by which you can carry out your sexual desires in a God pleasing way.

[00:03:00] So it's a way to avoid sexual impurity, sexual immorality. Sex is a gift of God. It is enjoyable for sure but God wants us to channel our sexual desires to our mate within the bonds of marriage.

[00:03:15] So it's a way to avoid sexual immorality and this is part of the reason that God established marriage as well. And that's chock full, that idea is chock full in the new testament.

[00:03:25] That within the bonds of marriage sex is a wonderful gift of God by which we enjoy each other. We become one flesh and it's a way that we become intimate and experience that oneness that we have with one another.

[00:03:39] So this is why God established marriage number one for companionship number two for procreation number three to channel our sexual desires in a God pleasing way.

[00:03:50] So tomorrow I'm going to be talking about what makes marriage healthy. What does a healthy marriage look like and you might if you're married compare what I'm talking about to what your marriage is and maybe it'll become a tune up for you,

[00:04:05] and your husband or you and your wife listen to what I have to say and say you know what there's some things we need to do differently. That's kind of the way Beth and I feel too. Hey, there's things that we can improve on there's things that we can kind of tune up and so let's do that as we listen to the message tomorrow. So that is today's daily truth. Have a great day in Jesus Christ.
