[00:00:00] Well, I passed your day. It's good seeing you again. It's just been too long and right? You know it is

[00:00:14] whole thing on memory. I think it's so funny. What I wanted to do with you right now is just say

[00:00:19] ballhouse truck tree. Okay, I learned this in my last physical that I went to. Yeah, I did too.

[00:00:29] Well, I actually tested the nurse. So what were the four words I was supposed to remember?

[00:00:35] And she could remember me. She looked at her notes. So anyway, I said,

[00:00:41] I love it. I love what you said about, you know, there's a reason where our memory is failing. Now,

[00:00:51] I mean, when you couldn't remember Ukraine, I couldn't like an empathide. So very sick. Oh God. Yeah,

[00:01:00] that's a tough one. But I'm going to ask you about those four words when we're all finished.

[00:01:04] You're so I'm sure most everybody that's watching will have it down. Yeah, sure. It'll be a lot younger than the

[00:01:09] press res on pressure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for you that's going to be that's when we tell them that I'm not having

[00:01:17] but what you were saying is that that essentially we're dying. We don't want to think about that.

[00:01:22] But they've written article a while back. It says, you know, when you turn 30, your body starts to fail.

[00:01:29] Yeah, in a lot different ways. And I learned that playing baseball, right?

[00:01:33] Had a lot of failures. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So even just swinging a bat at herk. Oh yeah.

[00:01:40] But, you know, biblically and when Jesus is talking to us, does he ever talk about, you know,

[00:01:47] as we begin to, our bodies aren't the same physically and we're not the same cognitively.

[00:01:53] Is there anything in scripture that talks about that at all? Because it is frustrating. I know

[00:02:00] I know that the disciples struggled in a lot of different ways. I don't know because they're

[00:02:04] actually think you're operating on a thought they were. Yeah, but what's going on?

[00:02:10] I realized death is part of our sinful state. Right. It's because of sin. That's why I got

[00:02:17] happens is it because of sin, our bodies start to fail. I suppose. Yeah. I mean, I used to say

[00:02:26] we're born to die, right? But that doesn't go over real well. It's not a real evangelical statement.

[00:02:32] Nobody wants to hear that. The thing for today has we're born to die.

[00:02:37] But I mean, all our days are numbered. The wages and thinners death. We come into this world,

[00:02:43] empty handed. We leave the world, empty handed. I mean, part of the curse, the fall of Adam and Eve,

[00:02:49] is the fact that someday we're going to be laid to rest. And the problem with sin is the longer we live

[00:02:55] here, the more impacted as us, including our relationships, including what's happening in the world.

[00:03:01] But also, including what happens up here. And I know, interestingly, when I preach now and when I do

[00:03:10] D.T.s, I memorize like seven or eight words. Right. That's kind of my outline. Right? And if I can

[00:03:17] speak on one word, I can speak for a paragraph because I've been doing this for a while. But it used

[00:03:22] to be that I would write out my serums, especially the first 10 or 15 years, right amount,

[00:03:27] word for word and memorize them. Yeah. Word for word. I can't do that anymore. At least not easily.

[00:03:35] I've never heard of it. Well, what I'm saying is it's part of our circumstances of living

[00:03:43] down here, having the impact of sin, realizing that our bodies are decaying. Yes. You know?

[00:03:52] And here's the thing, Kent, that I try to communicate. I think for unbelievers, that is a frightening

[00:03:59] thought. Oh, gosh, yes. And that's why you hear so many products out there in our culture today

[00:04:04] to try to keep us young, whether it's from our skin or exercise or whatever. You know, people

[00:04:09] want to prolong death as long as possible. When I do too, we want to be good to do it as my body.

[00:04:14] Right? We want to take care of the temple and all that. But we also recognize my father and

[00:04:20] offer instance is 85, 86 years old. And he's about done. You know? He's easy saying okay. Kind of like

[00:04:27] Saint Paul. I thought the good five, I finished of course. I got to say I'm ready to go.

[00:04:31] We're Christians can say that. Right? But you talked to somebody who doesn't know exactly

[00:04:36] where they're going and they're struggling with the certainty of whether there's really life

[00:04:41] beyond the grade. People like that, though, the whole term of death scares them. Right?

[00:04:47] Right. Yeah. Right? That's good. It's a good plan for the past.

[00:04:53] No. But not for us because we know that death has been conquered. That's right. You know,

[00:05:00] and I thought about that last week I watched my brother-in-law pass and he was pretty ill and

[00:05:06] we were in the hospital as he was dying. Yeah. But you know, when he passed,

[00:05:11] I just a real calm came over the room and my sister and I and my wife and different people

[00:05:17] said, oh I can't ask you. You feel this? He's no longer struggling to breathe. He's no

[00:05:23] longer fighting for every breath and you know, you know where he went and you know that he's no longer

[00:05:29] struggling. He's no and he is and we all just took a deep breath. What a calm came over us, man.

[00:05:37] You know, and of course he was a strong believer. Oh, very strong. That's a strong believer.

[00:05:42] And as they're the God is going off. It's time for us to depart. We're talking to the

[00:05:48] long person. I guess we've been the acne. But I see what you're saying and I understand that

[00:05:55] and we talked about that too. What do non-believers do in those situations when you're watching

[00:06:02] that person pass and they're moving on to their heavenly life, you know, and you're watching

[00:06:09] what a non-believers think. I feel sorry for them, I pray for them because that's got to be so

[00:06:14] difficult. Well, so most non-believers maybe we have some watching us think of life like a

[00:06:25] line segment. Remember geometry? Yeah, I do. Right? Unfortunately we do remember that. But

[00:06:31] remember the line, it always had a narrow here and a narrow here. In two eternity, right? In

[00:06:37] the eternity. Right? In 15 seconds. Yeah, beyond. Right? Well that's God. You know animals are a

[00:06:44] line segment, right? Yeah. Because they have a beginning and an end, they have no soul so they don't

[00:06:50] live forever. Right? This is the way atheists look at it. Okay, I live, I'm born, I live, and I die.

[00:06:58] I'm a line segment, that's it. And what they don't recognize is, hey there's a real heaven or

[00:07:04] real hell and without faith and this is by the way, this is an exclusive teaching of the Bible

[00:07:09] and a lot of churches are going away from this but Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. You've

[00:07:14] read that on D.T. A lot. But atheists believe there is no heaven, there is no hell. I'm a line segment,

[00:07:21] unborn, I die, that's it. Yes, it's all the fun that I have in between. Right? Right? What was

[00:07:26] that? The one of the most toys wins you have are the old Schlitz commercial Schlitz now I'm

[00:07:32] really showing my age. You only go around once in life so you got to reach out for all the gusts

[00:07:36] and stuff like that. Remember that gusts? Never look gust of lus, but it sounds great. So I was like

[00:07:42] my uncle, his name was God. Good thing. Well you know I was just thinking to myself there was

[00:07:52] some words that I gave you early on and I was wondering if possibly you remember first of all

[00:07:59] me giving you four words. Second one words might have been what they might have been.

[00:08:06] Yes. Couch, door, pavement, and tree. That is incredibly close. It's an amazing

[00:08:18] never heard of me. Wait that far up, but tree is cramps. It's a cramp. One in four.

[00:08:27] The color of Rocky's batting average is one 90 as a team. That's 250 I just got. You got 250 so

[00:08:34] you're there. Well, as we did it, it's great as always just to see you and talk to you and

[00:08:42] I get to listen to you every day which is fantastic and this is always fun. But it's fun.

[00:08:50] Our bodies are failing, our minds are failing and we're getting old. We're going to die and it's great.

[00:08:55] That's a good thing. We're going to be with the Lord. Yes. And here's the word Ukraine. Ukraine. Ukraine.

[00:09:02] Ukraine. Oh God, thank you for that. Oh you're welcome. Have a blessed day and see you next time.

[00:09:09] All right sounds good. Thank you for tuning in to Daily Truths with Dave Olman.
