[00:00:00] We'll truth, Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.
[00:00:30] The perfect pastor works from 8am until midnight and is also the Church of the
[00:00:34] Channeter. The perfect pastor makes $100 a week, where his stylish clothes drives a new
[00:00:39] car that reflects well on your church, buys 10 excellent books each week, and doughnates
[00:00:45] $80 a week to the parish. The perfect pastor is 29 years old and has 40 years worth of experience.
[00:00:52] I remember that when I was 29. Above all, the perfect pastor is very attractive.
[00:01:00] The perfect pastor has a burning desire to work with teenagers, and he spends most of his
[00:01:05] time with senior citizens. The perfect pastor smiles all the time with a straight face because
[00:01:11] he has a sense of humor that keeps him seriously dedicated to the parish. The perfect
[00:01:15] pastor makes 15 home visits a day and is always in the office to be handy when he's
[00:01:21] needed. The perfect pastor always has time for parish counsel and all of its committees.
[00:01:26] He never misses the meeting of any parish organization and is always busy evangelizing
[00:01:32] the unchurched. The perfect pastor is broken enough to understand all people, but perfect
[00:01:37] and mental emotional and physical health. The perfect pastor is always in the next parish
[00:01:42] over where your friend attends church. If your pastor does not measure up, simply send this
[00:01:49] notice to six other parishes that are tired of their pastors too. Then bundle up your
[00:01:55] pastor and send him to the parish at the top of your list. If everyone cooperates in one week
[00:02:01] you'll receive 1,643 past pastors from which to choose one of them should be perfect.
[00:02:11] Or the book of Matthew chapter 21 and Jesus begins this parable and he says this,
[00:02:17] there was a master of a house who planted a vineyard. The master is God, the vineyard is the nation
[00:02:23] of Israel and put a fence around it and dug a wine press in it and built a tower and leased it
[00:02:29] to the tenants, the tenants were the religious leaders, the Jewish leaders down through the years
[00:02:34] and went into another country. When the season for fruit drew near he sent his servants,
[00:02:41] that's the prophets of the Old Testament and John the Baptist. He sent his servants to the tenants
[00:02:47] to get his fruit and he, the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and
[00:02:55] stoned another. What's this talking about? This is talking about the prophets who were sent to
[00:03:00] God's people down through the years and the religious leaders, the Jewish leaders, did one of
[00:03:06] three things. They stoned some of them, they killed a couple of them and they hated and beat others.
[00:03:14] This is what they did to many of the prophets of the Old Testament. Now the prophets were God's
[00:03:20] representatives sent to the people of God, who are God's representatives sent to the people of God today.
[00:03:29] It's pastors. I want to say some things about pastors today. First of all, no pastor is perfect.
[00:03:37] No pastor has all the gifts. I mean, every pastor has certain gifts but not all of them.
[00:03:42] And a lot of times when pastors go to a church, the people of God expect him to have all the
[00:03:47] gifts. He's got to be a great preacher, a great ministry, great counselor, all these different things
[00:03:52] and no pastor has all the gifts. So what do you do? Look at the positive traits that your pastor
[00:03:59] has and maximize those traits. Focus on his strengths, minimize and don't focus on his weaknesses.
[00:04:08] I often told Vickers when they'd asked me, what consists of a really great pastor?
[00:04:14] And I said, it's summarized in one word. Love. Love for God, love for His word,
[00:04:21] and love for the people He serves. If your pastor loves God, loves the word,
[00:04:27] and loves He as a congregation, you are blessed. And finally, pray for your pastor.
[00:04:33] Pray that the Lord gives him strength. Pray that the Lord gives him clarity when he is preaching
[00:04:39] the Word of God properly, discerning the Word of truth. Pray that the Lord gives him good health
[00:04:45] and pray that the Lord continues to give him a love for God, a love for the Word, and a love
[00:04:51] for His people. Pray for boldness for your pastor. Okay? So this is just a quick summary of what you can
[00:04:59] do with your pastor. You don't want to send him off. You don't want to say a boy. Wish we had
[00:05:03] that pastor down the street where I wish that, you know, St. John's has a really good
[00:05:08] pastor. Maybe we can make a trade. Love your pastor, support and encourage him, minimize his
[00:05:16] strengths. I'm sorry, minimize his weaknesses. Focus on his strengths. Pray for him consistently,
[00:05:24] realize he's not perfect. And just thank God that you have a pastor all right now. The Lutheran
[00:05:30] Church Missouri Senate, if we continue with the current rate just 15 years from now, have the
[00:05:37] pulpits in the Lutheran Church Missouri Senate will be empty. So many young men are not considering
[00:05:43] going into the parish ministry because they think it's too tough. And I will tell you, it is tough.
[00:05:49] But we need pastors to fill these pulpits to shepherd God's people and to evangelize the lost.
[00:05:55] So pray for more workers in the harvest because we need more workers to be sent into
[00:06:02] our vise field, to evangelize, to instruct, to train, to educate, to love, to care and most importantly
[00:06:11] to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. And that is today's daily truth. Have a great day
[00:06:18] in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for tuning in todayly truths with Dave Alman.
