[00:00:00] We'll Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman We've been in Matthew chapter 19 and as you probably remember, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus talks a lot about marriage and divorce in the light. It says all these different things
[00:01:06] that we've been talking about the last few days and then the disciples say in verse 10. The disciples said, damn, as such is the case of a man to his wife. It is better not
[00:01:18] to marry. In other words, Jesus, you've made it sound like marriage can be difficult and if things go wrong, end up getting a divorce and if you get married you're committing adultery and all this different kind of thing. It almost sounds like it's better not to marry
[00:01:29] and then Jesus says this, not everyone can receive this saying but only those to whom it is given for their unix who have been made so from birth and their unix who have been
[00:01:40] made so unix by men and their unix who have made themselves unix for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let the one who is able to receive this receive it. What is Jesus saying
[00:01:52] and all this? What's the 30,000 foot view and you know what a unic is and what's he talking about there? Well, the 30,000 foot view of this is Jesus is saying it's perfectly okay to be
[00:02:04] single just because God said in the book of Genesis be fruitful and multiply and established marriage marriage is not for everyone and say Paul reiterated this. As a matter of fact, Saint Paul said if you're going to serve the Lord is better not to marry because you can
[00:02:21] more fully devote yourself to God. However, it's better to marry than to burn with lust. Now some Christians have taken this too far by saying if you're going to fully devote yourself to the Lord in the pastoral or even DC ministry, you better remain single otherwise you can't
[00:02:37] do the job effectively. The Bible does not say that at all as a matter of fact, a lot of the apostles were married, a lot of Christian workers and the New Testament were married and so
[00:02:50] it's perfectly okay to be married and it's perfectly okay according to the Word of God, not to marry. It's not sinful to not marry. A lot of times single people in Christian congregations feel like they're ostracized and neglected and looked down upon if you know a single
[00:03:07] brothers and sisters in Christ in your church thank God for them. Treat them as equal partners in the congregation. We're on equal footing whether we're married or not married, they are our
[00:03:20] brothers and sisters in Christ. Look at them in such a way. There's a precious lady from the previous congregation I serve, peace of your church. Her name is Sharon Nye and her husband passed away
[00:03:34] over 10 years ago ever since then she's remained single. Do you know what? As resulted the loss in her life she's fully dedicated herself to God and has involved in all kinds of ministries at peace
[00:03:46] Lutheran church and it's such a blessing to that congregation. I thank God for sharing Nye. I thank God for ministry in that church. I thank God for what she's doing. So she is an integral part of the
[00:04:00] body of Christ at peace within church and do you know what? People look at Sharon as a wonderful, wonderful, brother, not brother but sister in Christ who cares for the Lord who cares for other
[00:04:12] people who's using your spiritual gifts and talents to serve other people in love. Here's the bottom line. Look at people in your congregation who are single as precious gifts of God. Don't look down upon
[00:04:26] them because they're not married because that's not biblical and Jesus tells us that right here if they've chosen not to be married, if they've chosen to be single, if they haven't found the
[00:04:36] right person to marry to, if they feel like they're better able to serve the Lord by being single. Thank God for them and look at them as equal partners in ministry at your church. Okay?
[00:04:49] So, not an easy word today but again as you've heard me say I don't like to skip over any of these passages that are more difficult to interpret and apply to people's lives. So I hope this was helpful
[00:05:00] for you today. Bottom line of this is look at our single brothers and sisters in Christ as equal partners in ministry using their gifts and talents to serve the Lord in the body of Christ and to
[00:05:12] extend the kingdom of God. And that is today's daily truth. Have a great day in Jesus Christ. Dr. Bildo Nation helps us continue sharing the gospel with as many people as possible. Simply click the link in the description below so come back tomorrow for your next daily truth.
