[00:00:00] We'll Truth Daily This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman. Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths How Does Jesus Feel About Children? Does he criticize them, condemn them, ridicule them, judge them, ostracize them, separate

[00:00:22] themselves from them or is there a different Jesus that we need to fully understand comprehend and see exhibited? In this text in Matthew chapter 19 verse 13, this is what it says, then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray.

[00:00:43] Who is doing this? Parents were bringing their little children to Jesus for two particular reasons. Number one, that he would lay their hands on them and I think that's so powerful because there's such powerful in the human touch, such power in the human touch.

[00:00:58] So he comes to them, they come to him and he lays his hands on them and not only that he blesses them in the Book of Genesis, the inheritance was conferred. The blessing was conferred on children as the patriarch would put his hands on his kids,

[00:01:16] pray over them and bless them with the blessing from God. This could very well be what Jesus was doing here. Now nowhere in the Bible does it ever say that Jesus and the New Testament does it ever say that the children didn't want to come and see Jesus?

[00:01:33] Nowhere does it say that. So think about this, a playful Jesus, a smiling Jesus, a redicent Jesus, an engaging Jesus, a Jesus who wants to get on the ground and roll around and wrestle with the kids and play dice games or whatever it was.

[00:01:52] This is the picture of Jesus we have, but not only that, the parents were bringing their children to Jesus and can you imagine if they believe that he was the son of God, can you imagine what they were thinking? God is touching my child.

[00:02:06] God is blessing my child. God is praying over my child. I've been to the moment of times when I've seen parents bring their kids to Santa Colors. It's almost funer to watch the parents that it is a child. Have you ever noticed that?

[00:02:24] They're smiling, they're grinning, they're getting out there. They're at a phone side, they're cameras and they're taking pictures of what it's taking place because they're so happy that their child is sitting on Santa's lap and they're just going with pride as they see this happen.

[00:02:39] Can you imagine these parents who watched their children just skip up to Jesus and sit on his lap and Jesus is placing his hand on their head and maybe crack in a joke and listening to their stories, it's too bad they didn't have cell phones.

[00:02:56] It's too bad they didn't have cameras because what a proud moment that must have been for their child. So I have an encouragement for you as a parent or a grandparent or any child that you know bring them to Jesus. Tell them stories about the Lord.

[00:03:18] Read this particular story and pay to picture what Jesus is really like. So many times when he sees Jesus depicted and especially older movies he was stern and he was almost cross and he speak and also boldly and stuff and very few times do we see

[00:03:33] in those stories, depictions? And we see children being brought to Jesus and seeing the true nature of the love and character and kindness and consideration and concern and compassion that Jesus really has for kids.

[00:03:46] I think that song, Jesus loves a little children all the children of the world, yellow black and golden white they are precious in his sight Jesus loves a little children of the world and he does. And this text is such a powerful evidence of that.

[00:04:04] So again bottom line of this devotion if you're a parent or a grandparent do whatever it takes to bring your children to the Lord Jesus to Sunday school, to have devotions with them to look for opportunities as you're walking along the road or you're driving

[00:04:18] in the car or whatever it is to look for opportunities to talk about what Christ has made what God the Father has made and creation and then this is my favorite segue. This is my favorite.

[00:04:29] I point to the mountains and I'll tell my grandkids and it used to be my kids, the same God that created those mountains is the same God that dispatched his son to planet Earth to save us and that Jesus loves you very, very much.

[00:04:48] That is today's daily truth. Have a great day in Jesus Christ. By the way, I usually do these to one take. I think I miss quote of that song. I don't think it says gold children. But you'll forgive me.

[00:05:07] Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ and that is today's daily truth. Thank you for tuning in to daily truths with Dave Alman. Pastor Dave Alman is the pastor of Mount Holt Church in Boulder, Colorado.
