Invitation Given...Invitation Accepted. | Matthew 22:8-9

[00:00:07] Hi everybody welcome back to Daily Truths. All of us know what it's like not to be invited

[00:00:12] to something, not to be picked to be second class to be second rate to be passed over

[00:00:18] for the promotion to not get the raise, to be on the losing team and on and on and on

[00:00:23] to not be accepted by a certain group or a certain organization or whatever.

[00:00:28] We all know what it's like to be rejected.

[00:00:32] I think in the Denver Nuggets who last night, of course, has a 10 days edit that

[00:00:35] who last night lost in the playoffs, game 7, blowing at 20 point lead.

[00:00:41] What the world? They know what it's like to be on the losing side to not be accepted

[00:00:46] to not be invited to the conference finals and all of us can say we've been there,

[00:00:51] done that.

[00:00:52] We know what that's like in Matthew chapter 22.

[00:00:56] Jesus talks about this wedding feast where the king has a celebration for his son

[00:01:01] and sends out invitations and people reject the invitation.

[00:01:06] They make excuses, they have business, things to do, they got things they got to carry

[00:01:10] out and so they don't come.

[00:01:12] And not only that, those that are preoccupied with their businesses,

[00:01:16] there's other folks who say we're going to kill the servants who've invited us.

[00:01:20] What's Jesus saying in all that?

[00:01:22] That the Jews, by and large in Jesus' state, had rejected the messianic rule of Jesus.

[00:01:27] And so what happens?

[00:01:29] The story goes on with this in verse 8.

[00:01:32] Then he said to his servants, the wedding feast is ready,

[00:01:35] but those invited were not worthy.

[00:01:38] Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.

[00:01:44] About a week ago I said the Jews' rejection of Christ is our inclusion

[00:01:49] into Christ and so we've been invited and we've accepted by the power of the Holy Spirit,

[00:01:55] the invitation to be part of the family, part of the kingdom, receiving the spoils of victory.

[00:02:03] One of the spoils of it repeats, pardon.

[00:02:06] And he turned a life word, accepted.

[00:02:08] We're part of the team.

[00:02:09] We're part of the family of God, 1.5 billion strong.

[00:02:15] So when you're feeling despised and rejected and not accepted and not good about things in your life,

[00:02:22] remember who you are in Jesus Christ.

[00:02:25] Remember that your chosen before the foundation of the world.

[00:02:28] Remember that the invitation has gone onto you to be a part of the kingdom of God,

[00:02:33] the family of the Father and your in.

[00:02:37] How does that make you feel?

[00:02:40] It should make you feel pretty good no matter what's going on in your life.

[00:02:44] You see, I kind of look at my role as that of an encourager to you.

[00:02:48] I don't know what's going on in your life and I don't know what circumstances you're facing in life.

[00:02:53] I've got up this morning kind of down above the silly nuggets but do you know what?

[00:02:58] I'm a child of God.

[00:03:00] I'm headed to heaven.

[00:03:02] The Father has chosen me to be a part of his family.

[00:03:05] I've received the invitation and accepted the invitation by the power of the Holy Spirit.

[00:03:10] And the same can be said of you.

[00:03:13] Now what do you do with it?

[00:03:15] Well, you know what to do with it.

[00:03:17] You live for the family.

[00:03:19] You live for the Lord Jesus Christ.

[00:03:21] You serve one another in love.

[00:03:23] You're part of the kingdom of God, you're part of the church.

[00:03:25] And you extend the kingdom to as many people as possible.

[00:03:29] You extend the invitation to as many people as possible.

[00:03:33] I think of a young lady in the congregation.

[00:03:35] I'm serving Mount Hope Church in Boulder, Colorado, a young lady by the name of Danica who's going through my

[00:03:41] adult confirmation class.

[00:03:43] She's a sophomore in high school and low and behold, she brought someone to church that I'd never seen before

[00:03:49] And after church, I recognized the fact that this young man was her boyfriend.

[00:03:53] That's who she explained he was to me.

[00:03:55] And so I thought, wow, how cool this is that she was so excited about the faith that she brought her boyfriend to church.

[00:04:03] They've been dating for a week and Saturday night they're at a park and he was waiting for his dad to come and get him.

[00:04:09] They had a three hour conversation about God.

[00:04:13] How cool is that?

[00:04:15] A three hour conversation about the things of what it means to be a child of God and receive the grace of God by faith.

[00:04:24] And he had all kinds of questions and then he came to my adult information class yesterday.

[00:04:29] Why did she do that?

[00:04:31] Because she's part of the family.

[00:04:33] She's part of the kingdom.

[00:04:35] She's received the invitation by the Holy Spirit's power.

[00:04:39] She accepted the invitation.

[00:04:41] And now she extended that invitation to her boyfriend.

[00:04:46] My friends, this is what it's all about.

[00:04:48] You see, we're not secret service agents for the kingdom of God.

[00:04:52] We don't go in, God needo for the family of the Father.

[00:04:56] We let as many people as possible know who Jesus is and why he came.

[00:05:01] And that's what Danica did.

[00:05:03] And that's what I encourage you to do.

[00:05:06] So two points today of this message.

[00:05:08] Number one, you're down in the dumps because things aren't going right in your life.

[00:05:12] Remember who you are in Christ.

[00:05:14] Remember your part of the family.

[00:05:16] Remember the invitation has been extended and you by the power of the Holy Spirit have accepted it.

[00:05:21] And then be about the Father's business.

[00:05:24] The great commission is clear, make disciples of all nations.

[00:05:27] May we be about the Father's business extending that invitation to other people.

[00:05:34] So that they too might be part of the family of God.

[00:05:39] Let it be so and let it be done to the glory of God's Holy and saving name.

[00:05:44] And that is today's daily truth.
