[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. When you've been through a difficult loss in
[00:00:12] [SPEAKER_00]: life, how do you cope with it? How do you deal with it? How do you make it through? Well, as
[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, we've been talking about John the Baptist and Herodias and Salome and Herod
[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_00]: and all these different characters. And of course, remember that John the Baptist was
[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_00]: beheaded. And of course, the disciples, as we talked about yesterday, took his body away,
[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_00]: the disciples of John the Baptist and buried it. Now difficult that must have been. And
[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_00]: then they had to tell Jesus about it. Now think about this. Jesus grew up with John
[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_00]: the Baptist. Perhaps nobody knew Jesus better than John the Baptist except for Mary. Remember
[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_00]: they were going to change the world. And now he finds out, Jesus finds out that his
[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_00]: close personal friend, his compadre, his companion, his dear cousin, one who's very close to him
[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_00]: has died. Now Jesus, as we understand, is not only God, but also he's human. And because
[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: he was touched by the loss of this precious friend of his, he had to do something. He
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_00]: had to cope with it. He had to deal with it. And so how did he cope with it? How
[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_00]: did he cope with it? And so how did he cope with it? And so how did he cope with it? And
[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_00]: then in the first 13 of Matthew chapter 14, now when Jesus heard this, namely that John
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_00]: the Baptist had died, when he heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate
[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_00]: place by himself. Mark tells us that his disciples were with him as well. But
[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_00]: when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the town. So they went from
[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_00]: the west part of the Sea of Galilee to the northeast part of the Sea of Galilee out of
[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Herod's jurisdiction in a place called Bethsaida. And they probably were going to land at a port
[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_00]: outside the city so that people wouldn't know that Jesus was there. But what happened?
[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they did know he was there. They followed him on foot. They knew the boat
[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_00]: was out on the Sea of Galilee. They thought he was going to Bethsaida and sure enough,
[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_00]: that's where they landed. Here's the point, however, when Jesus experienced this loss,
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: he wanted to be comforted. He wanted to be alone, but he wanted to be alone with his friends.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And so his disciples got into this boat, went on the other side, and we don't know what the
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: conversation was. Maybe the disciples didn't say anything. Maybe they were just there to
[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_00]: comfort Jesus because they knew he was hurting. But the one thing that I got to identify here
[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_00]: in all of this is Jesus was surrounded by those who cared the most. And who was the one who cared
[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_00]: ultimately the most? God the Father. So here's the point, when you've experienced some sort of loss,
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_00]: whether it's a loss of a job, the loss of a friendship, or the loss heaven forbid
[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_00]: of a loved one through death, here's what you can do. Number one, be comforted by people
[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_00]: who care for you the most. Friends, close neighbors, acquaintances, not just acquaintances,
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_00]: not so much acquaintances, but friends and family, those who care for you the most.
[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Let them love on you and care for you and be there for you. And we've already talked about
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_00]: what to do and not to do when someone loses a loved one. Show up, shut up and listen upright.
[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're one of those folks who feel like you have to take away the pain by saying stuff,
[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_00]: you don't need to do that. Just show up and listen, I believe that's what the disciples did.
[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus got in a boat, they followed, maybe not a word was spoken, but Jesus was comforted
[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: by their presence. So when you've experienced a loss, let people who care for you the most
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_00]: just be there for you and love on you. Secondly, be comforted by the one who ultimately cares
[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_00]: the most for you. And that is our Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father. When you've experienced
[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_00]: losses, remember what Jesus went through when he suffered the loss not only of his father by this
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_00]: time, but also John the Baptist, how his heart grieved. The Bible says that we do not have a
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: high priest, namely Jesus, who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses. So Jesus has
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_00]: been there. He's done that. He knows what it's like to lose loved ones. And he's there to
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_00]: give you strength and to wipe away the tears and give you power to carry on with the comforting
[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_00]: assurance of his presence. So when you've experienced a loss, let those who care for you the most
[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_00]: be there for you and let the one who cares for you ultimately the most, God the Father and
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_00]: God the Son be there for you and let them help carry the burden, heal the wound, wipe away
[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_00]: the tears and give you strength to carry on. Okay? So that is today's Daily Truth. Have a great day in
