[00:00:00] We'll Truth Daily This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman. Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. An age old question is what I want to ask you today. How does one get right with God? In other words, how's the person put in a right relationship with God?

[00:00:22] Some people would say why you got to act religious. You got to do certain things. You got to pray more. Maybe you need to fast more. Read your Bible more. Go to church more. I do the right thing and avoid the wrong thing.

[00:00:34] All these different things that somehow will make God not be ticked to you anymore so that you're in a right relationship with God. This all sounds very me oriented, very work-soriented, very I must do something to make God not ticked off a

[00:00:50] meaning more so that I'm in a right relationship with God. And we've talked about this before, this is most of the religions in the world. I must do something to make God right with me. It's all up to me. This is what the Pharisees taught.

[00:01:07] And this is why the people felt such incredible guilt and such an incredible yoke of burden and bondage upon them because they couldn't possibly adhere to what the Pharisees said or what they did.

[00:01:20] As a matter of fact, the Pharisees couldn't even live up to the expectations they had of God's people. You remember this? We talked about this yesterday. And so this is what it says. Jesus said this about the Pharisees.

[00:01:31] They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden. Can you imagine being a new testament first century, where of God who didn't believe or didn't know that Jesus was Messiah and God your religiosity from the Pharisees.

[00:01:53] And they put all these demands, all these religious requirements not only based on the Lord Moses, but stuff that they added. And they said, oh by the way, you got to do all this stuff to be right with God. And none of them could.

[00:02:07] And the burden they felt and the guilt and remorse they experienced was overwhelming. And the Pharisees, according to what Jesus said here, didn't do anything, didn't say anything, didn't carry out anything to live the burden upon God's people.

[00:02:24] The yoke of bondage and the yoke of guilt was overwhelming. Now there's a lot of people today who feel the same way. They feel like religion is oppressive. Like even Christianity is just a bunch of rules and regulations.

[00:02:40] So I go back to the question, how does one get right with God? Here is the answer you can't. You can't put yourself in a right relationship with God. No matter how hard you try, no matter how many good things you do,

[00:02:58] your life, my life is still tainted by this horrible thing that starts with a three letter. It's a three letter word and it starts with the letter S. It's the word sin. We can't get rid of it. We can't remove it. We can't make up for it.

[00:03:16] We can't compensate for it. Our sin becomes a barrier between us and God. And here's the thing, only one person in the history of humanity can take that barrier of sin away. And that was Jesus. He lived the life that we cannot live.

[00:03:36] He obeyed the commandments that we cannot keep. He appeased the satisfying laws of God by keeping them in our place. And here's the thing, and sin needed to be paid for.

[00:03:50] Not only did someone need to keep the law for us, but someone need to make recompense payment for our sin. And that's someone with Jesus. And he did it at the cross and God laid on him the Iniquity of his hall.

[00:04:03] And Jesus experienced the wrath of God in our place. And not only that, he rose again just as he promised. He said destroy this temple, namely his body, and in three days I'll raise it up again.

[00:04:16] Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale for three days. I'm going to be in the belly of the ground for three days, and then rise again. And he did it. His life, his death, his resurrection, removes the barriers sin.

[00:04:30] And when we repent and put our faith in Jesus, here's the marvelous thing. We're at peace with God. We're in a right relationship with God. God's wrath is not upon us. His forgiveness, his peace is upon us.

[00:04:46] Jesus said it best when he said, my peace I live with you, my peace I give unto you. Not as a world gift, do I give unto you? So let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. I'll sit in Romans chapter 5 verse 1.

[00:05:01] Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God with our Lord Jesus Christ. That peace, that reconciliation basically means you are in a right relationship with God with the barrier of sin removed through faith and what Christ has done.

[00:05:19] So my friend, bask in that today, celebrate that today, rejoice in that today, share that with someone today, enjoy your relationship with God because you are in a right relationship with God.

[00:05:33] Not based on your works, not based on religiosity, not based on what you do or don't do, but based on simply Jesus merits. And as a result of that, you can rest. Jesus said it best when he said this, come to me, all you that are burdened.

[00:05:54] That was the people of God in Jesus' day. Come to me, all ye that are burdened and have been laid in by the restrictions of the Pharisees. And I will give you rest. Your peace today with God.

[00:06:11] You can rest in the presence of God today if God before us and He is, who can be against us? He that spared not his own son, but freely gave him up our us all. How shall he not also along with Him graciously give us all things?

[00:06:30] God is for you. He loves you. You're a peace with Him. You're in a right relationship with Him. Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ. And that is today's daily truth. Thank you for tuning in to daily truths with Dave Olman.
