[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Real Truth Daily This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman
[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. I've been in the mystery for a long time and I've often wondered why is it that so many people in a local congregation never really get involved in ministry
[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_00]: They understand that they're gifted by God but they really don't utilize their gifts to serve one another to lift up the body of Christ and to extend the kingdom
[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Why is that now we're in the parable of the Master who gives talents remember and the Master gave five talents
[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_00]: We've been talking about this five talents to one guy need double it two talents to another guy any double it
[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And one talent to one guy any buried it and now the master is asking for accountability
[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And so the one who received one talent comes to him when we pick up verse 24. He who also had received the one talent came forward saying master
[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I knew you to be a hard man reaping where you did not sew and gathering where your scattered no seeds
[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: So I was afraid and I went and hit your talent in the ground here have what is yours now? What can we say about this guy?
[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Number one he was lazy. He really didn't use the talent that he'd been given. He did nothing with it except the barrier
[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_00]: It was lazy secondly, he was unappreciative. He really wasn't appreciative of the one talent that he had received and maybe was jealous of the other guys
[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_00]: To receive five and two and maybe thought man, man. I should receive more maybe he was unappreciative
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Thirdly we could say that he was misinformed right? He really thought that what he had was his and he could do with it
[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_00]: What every wanted and finally number four. He was fearful fearful retaliation
[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_00]: fearful that the Master was a hard and difficult guy to please so he thought I'm gonna play it on the safe side and just bury it lazy and informed
[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm appreciative
[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: misinformed and fearful now
[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's think about those things. That's often what keeps people from using the gifts and talents that God has given them
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_00]: They might be lazy. They might say hey, I know I'm gifted by God, but I really don't want to serve
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just gonna dismiss it and I'll let other people do what God has called them to do all just kind of sitting the stance and watch
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Secondly, they might be unappreciative unappreciative of the tremendous gift and sacrifice
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_00]: It was rendered by Christ to save them unappreciative the new life. They haven't Christ the forgiveness of sins in the promise
[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Feet of life unappreciative of God's guiding and directing spirit and God's consoling nature in the comfort and compassion that comes from God
[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Unappreciative of all that thirdly they might be misinformed
[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_00]: misinformed in that they think that everything they have is theirs now
[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_00]: We know that nothing we have in life is really ours
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_00]: This is stewardship 101 God is the owner of everything and we are the managers and stewards of it including our
[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_00]: life including our jobs including our homes including our families including our health everything is on
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Loan to us from God and God is the owner of all things and we are managers of it if people don't understand that
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_00]: If they're misinformed thinking that what they have is theirs because they earned it
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_00]: They deserve it. They've worked for all that kind of stuff
[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna be less likely to one a user gifts to glorify God and to extend his kingdom
[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And finally they might be fearful. They might be fearful that hey, maybe if I do use my gifts
[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I won't do it right or maybe if I do use my gifts others
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll kind of criticize me or if I do use my gifts maybe I'll be asked to do even more
[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_00]: etc. etc. So these are the four reasons people might be lazy
[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_00]: They might be unappreciative they might be misinformed and they might be fearful
[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_00]: But the bottom line is from this devotion today is God has given us gifts to utilize
[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And to be equipped by God to serve one another in love, right?
[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And so the bottom line of this is we don't want to be like the one guy who buried his talent
[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_00]: We want to be like the other guys who utilize their talents double them
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_00]: So that they could bring glory and honor and praise to their master
[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_00]: We want to break glory honor and praise to our master Jesus Christ who's given us abundant gifts
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's utilize them to build up the body
[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Extend the kingdom and serve one another in love
[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And that is today's daily truth have a great day in Lord Jesus Christ
