[00:00:00] Real Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.
[00:00:07] Hi, everybody. Welcome back to Daily Truths. In Matthew 26, Jesus said on the night that He was betrayed, He said,
[00:00:15] All of you are going to fall away from me. And Peter said, Even if all these other guys fall away from you, Lord Jesus, I never will.
[00:00:22] And then Jesus said, I tell you, truly, before the rooster crows tonight, you'll deny me three times.
[00:00:27] Now we pick it up where Peter says this in verse 35.
[00:00:32] Peter said to him, Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you.
[00:00:37] And all the disciples said the same thing. Hmm.
[00:00:43] Peter loved Jesus. And he was saying here, I love you enough to die with you.
[00:00:47] If you're going to die tomorrow or even tonight, I love you enough to die with you.
[00:00:52] Now, Peter didn't end up dying with Jesus. But a few years later, about 30 years later, he loved Jesus so much that he was crucified, not upright, but upside down.
[00:01:03] So he didn't die with Christ. But listen to this. He died for Christ.
[00:01:10] In our world today, we probably won't be persecuted to the point where we die for Christ.
[00:01:16] But are we living for Christ? Right.
[00:01:21] We may not die for Christ, but are we living for Christ?
[00:01:25] And you might be saying, Well, what does it mean to live for Christ?
[00:01:29] Are we looking for opportunities to witness of his love to other people?
[00:01:34] Are we serving him by using our gifts and talents to extend his kingdom?
[00:01:39] Are we willing to obey his word to say no to sin and yes to the commandments of God?
[00:01:45] Are we willing to give sacrificially to the Lord? Yes, 10 percent or even more of the financial resources that God gives us.
[00:01:54] Are we willing to say, I'm going to put to death the deeds of darkness by daily repentance, contrition, repentance and faith in Jesus every day, putting to death the deeds of darkness and rising up to a new life.
[00:02:07] Do we love Jesus so much that we're living for Jesus?
[00:02:11] We may not have to die for Jesus, but are we willing to live for Jesus because we love him?
[00:02:19] Great question, isn't it?
[00:02:21] And so I encourage you today to say to yourself, Am I living for the Lord?
[00:02:26] Take a litmus test of your life. Am I serving him?
[00:02:29] Am I obeying him?
[00:02:30] Am I witnessing for him?
[00:02:32] Am I giving sacrificially?
[00:02:34] Am I telling others about him?
[00:02:36] Am I putting to death the deeds of darkness in my own life by daily contrition and repentance?
[00:02:41] Are all my deeds of darkness being drowned in Christ?
[00:02:45] And am I rising up to a new life?
[00:02:48] Here's the attitude that we can embrace as we follow the Lord Jesus Christ.
[00:02:52] It's from an old hymn and it goes like this.
[00:02:55] Take my life, Lord Jesus, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee.
[00:03:01] Take my moments and my days.
[00:03:04] Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
[00:03:07] This is the attitude that we embrace.
[00:03:10] You look at Peter.
[00:03:11] He was willing to die with Christ.
[00:03:14] That didn't happen, but he died for Christ.
[00:03:17] We don't have to die for Christ.
[00:03:18] But may we say, Lord Jesus, take my life as I live my life for you.
[00:03:25] Living for Christ is what we're called to do.
[00:03:28] And may God, through the Holy Spirit's power, empower us to do that each and every moment of each and every day.
[00:03:35] And here's the gospel.
[00:03:38] When we don't measure up to that, when we don't serve, obey, love, give, care, witness, put to death the deeds of darkness like we know we should, there's still grace for you.
[00:03:49] God still loves you.
[00:03:51] You're still a child of God headed to heaven, forgiven through the blood of Christ.
[00:03:56] How wonderful it is to know that.
[00:03:59] So as a result of that, we say, I want to live for you, Lord Jesus.
[00:04:05] Take my life.
[00:04:07] It's yours.
[00:04:09] And that is today's Daily Truth.
[00:04:11] Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ.
