[00:00:00] Real Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.
[00:00:07] Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. We're in Matthew chapter 26 and remember Jesus,
[00:00:13] it's one o'clock in the morning on Good Friday morning about and Jesus is in the courtyard of KFS the High Priest.
[00:00:19] All the religious leaders, some 70 strong, are there and these false witnesses come forward and say stuff made up about Jesus.
[00:00:27] Finally, we pick up the last part of verse 60 and it says this,
[00:00:35] at last two came forward, verse 61, and said,
[00:00:38] this man said I'm able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.
[00:00:44] Yeah!
[00:00:46] Well, what they thought Jesus meant was he's gonna destroy the temple in Jerusalem that took what, 39 years to build or whatever it was?
[00:00:55] Right? He's gonna destroy it. And so they're saying he's mocking, he's doing horrible things,
[00:01:02] he's destroying the temple of God, he wants to ruin everything!
[00:01:07] And they didn't understand what he meant. Of course we know what he meant.
[00:01:11] He meant destroy this temple, namely this body, the temple of the Holy Spirit if you will, destroy this temple and I'll raise it up,
[00:01:20] I'll bring it back to life in three days. Did he do that? Yes!
[00:01:27] He did it!
[00:01:29] Of course they didn't understand that.
[00:01:30] And of course Jesus said many times he was gonna rise from the dead and he did it,
[00:01:34] but nobody believed him.
[00:01:37] Nobody, including the disciples, believed him when he said that.
[00:01:42] And boy, were they in for a surprise on Easter Sunday morning.
[00:01:46] Isn't it great that we have a living Savior?
[00:01:48] Now, I want to get back to what he said. Destroy this temple.
[00:01:51] He was saying my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, right?
[00:01:55] And the Holy Spirit obviously was upon him.
[00:01:58] Who are you? Who is your body? And who does your body belong to?
[00:02:02] Your body also is a dwelling place of God. What?
[00:02:08] Yes, your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.
[00:02:12] St. Paul said that. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, which is in you, which you receive from God?
[00:02:19] You are not your own. You were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body, with your temple.
[00:02:27] Now, why do we honor God with our temple? Because we're not our own.
[00:02:31] And Jesus redeemed this body, along with our soul, to be God's very own precious inheritor of the kingdom, recipient of his grace, and child of the beloved Father.
[00:02:44] This is who we are. This is where identity is found.
[00:02:47] And so, if the body that we receive is a gift of God, and it belongs to him, and the Holy Spirit lives in us, it's a temple of the Holy Spirit, the body is, then what should we do at the temple?
[00:03:00] Take care of it.
[00:03:02] It's amazing to me that people in my parents' generation really didn't exercise much, right?
[00:03:08] And I know we as Americans are fatter than ever, but people my age in their 60s and 70s seem to be doing better than the previous generation did regarding their health.
[00:03:18] Why? Because I think we understand more and more that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we're supposed to take care of it.
[00:03:24] So, are we eating properly? Do we exercise? Do we get the right amount of rest? Are we trying to remove stress out of our life?
[00:03:33] All of this helps us to honor God with our bodies.
[00:03:38] So, the bottom line of this is, Jesus said his body was a temple of the Holy Spirit, and so is yours.
[00:03:47] Let's be good stewards of the bodies that God has given us.
[00:03:51] And that is today's Daily Truth. Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ.
