[00:00:00] Real Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.
[00:00:30] It'll be on your right hand.
[00:00:31] That's right. And there's music in the background. It's really loud. So we're gonna project very well.
[00:00:36] We're actually in Dave's other office, you know. This is another restaurant.
[00:00:41] Yep.
[00:00:42] And we're happy to be here. But what we want to talk about today, what we want to talk about, is eating.
[00:00:49] Which is one of our favorite things to do.
[00:00:52] It is. Every time we get together, we eat.
[00:00:54] And we're in... I don't know where are we. Applebee's. We're in Applebee's tonight.
[00:00:58] Yeah. But we're talking about eating and the desire that I... Well, you do too, to eat.
[00:01:05] But you know, I was thinking when we first talked about this, I thought to myself,
[00:01:08] you know, I can remember when Satan was tempting Jesus.
[00:01:13] And he was tempting him. And when he said, you know, turn this stone into bread.
[00:01:18] And what's the first thing that Jesus said? He said, man does...
[00:01:23] Man does not live by bread alone. That's right.
[00:01:24] But every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
[00:01:26] Ah, that's it.
[00:01:27] Yeah.
[00:01:28] You've heard this before.
[00:01:29] Yes, I have.
[00:01:29] That's right.
[00:01:31] So...
[00:01:31] I didn't do this for a living.
[00:01:33] You should.
[00:01:34] Please think about it.
[00:01:36] Anyway...
[00:01:37] Oh, man.
[00:01:37] Well, it's that physical food, right?
[00:01:40] We want to talk about not just the physical food that we had here at Applebee's.
[00:01:44] But we're talking about the spiritual food, the food that Jesus gives us, that God gives us.
[00:01:51] And that food that is actually the most important food, just like Jesus told the devil.
[00:01:57] Man does not live by just bread alone, so that we're eating.
[00:02:01] But every word that comes out of the mouth of God.
[00:02:06] And that's what it's all about, is getting that.
[00:02:08] Now, we talked about that earlier, about being hungry.
[00:02:12] You know, and some people will say, well, I'm just not being fed here at church.
[00:02:16] I just don't...
[00:02:17] I'm not being fed.
[00:02:18] Well, let's think about that for a second.
[00:02:20] You know, if I'm hungry, I have to go somewhere like lovely Applebee's, he bought, to get the food that I need.
[00:02:31] Well, if we're hungry for spiritual food, if things are happening in our life, and we're feeling alone or lost, or we need Jesus, we need God in our life.
[00:02:42] Amen.
[00:02:43] The best thing that we can do is go to God's restaurant, right?
[00:02:47] Amen.
[00:02:48] I love that.
[00:02:49] We're going to the church, and we're going to go there to get that spiritual food that we really do need.
[00:02:55] I love that.
[00:02:56] I love that.
[00:02:57] And the problem is, you know, sometimes when people are hungry, they don't know what they're hungry for.
[00:03:05] They're really hungry spiritually, yes.
[00:03:06] For the Lord Jesus.
[00:03:07] Mm-hmm.
[00:03:08] But they think that other things will take away that hunger, right?
[00:03:41] And that's the problem.
[00:03:42] Sometimes people will go to God's restaurant, and they expect to get God's food, and they get junk food.
[00:03:48] Right?
[00:03:49] They don't get the good stuff of God's Word.
[00:03:51] Exactly.
[00:03:52] And the pastor might pontificate about politics, or what's happening in the culture, or maybe some societal problem, instead of the Word of God.
[00:04:00] So, when people are hungry, they have to be fed the Word of God.
[00:04:04] And if they're not fed the Word of God, then we can say, well, you know, they weren't fed, because they weren't fed the Word.
[00:04:12] They weren't fed the right food.
[00:04:14] The right food.
[00:04:14] That's right.
[00:04:15] Yeah.
[00:04:15] Exactly.
[00:04:16] And there is, you know, I was also thinking about, when I'm hungry, I feel like I have a hole in my stomach.
[00:04:21] I've got to fill that thing up.
[00:04:22] Ew.
[00:04:23] When I have an issue in my life, and many times we talked about some issues tonight, and I've got a hole in my heart.
[00:04:30] Mm-hmm.
[00:04:30] And there's only one person that can fill that hole that I have in my heart.
[00:04:34] Just like that hole that I feel in my stomach, and I have to fill it with, you know, several hamburgers or whatever.
[00:04:42] But the thing is, only one thing can fill that hole in my heart.
[00:04:46] There's only one thing, one person that can do that.
[00:04:48] I love that.
[00:04:49] I love that.
[00:04:50] You know, you're a medical guy.
[00:04:52] Isn't it true that people, if they're hungry, physically hungry, and they don't eat for a while, the hunger goes away?
[00:05:00] It does.
[00:05:01] Yeah.
[00:05:01] So, I think you can say the same thing spiritually.
[00:05:04] People may be hungry for the Word of God.
[00:05:06] They don't know what they're hungry for, but they're not feeding it with the Word.
[00:05:11] And eventually, they're not hungry eating the Word.
[00:05:13] Right?
[00:05:14] And I think that analogy, I think, holds weight.
[00:05:18] Because I think there's a lot of people, oh, I'm hungry, I'm hungry, I'm hungry.
[00:05:21] But they're not feeding it with the right stuff, and so that hunger goes away.
[00:05:24] And they never really knew what they were thirsting or hungry for.
[00:05:27] It was Jesus Christ.
[00:05:29] Yeah.
[00:05:30] And then we have one other thing going against us.
[00:05:32] It's that Satan saying, you don't need that food.
[00:05:34] You don't need church.
[00:05:35] You don't need community.
[00:05:36] You don't need those things.
[00:05:37] You don't need that.
[00:05:38] You know, you can get your food anywhere else.
[00:05:41] And anything can take the place of that spiritual food.
[00:05:45] Some people do with alcohol.
[00:05:47] Some people do with drugs.
[00:05:48] There's a lot of different things that they turn to.
[00:05:50] Instead of turning to the Word of God, instead of listening to what Jesus is telling us,
[00:05:55] they try to fix it themselves.
[00:05:57] And ultimately, that doesn't work.
[00:05:59] And you've seen it many times, too.
[00:06:01] I sure have.
[00:06:02] So good, Ken.
[00:06:03] I love that conversation.
[00:06:05] So folks, here we were at Apple Beast tonight,
[00:06:08] just enjoying each other's company and telling some funny stories
[00:06:12] and sharing different things and hearing each other's aches and pains
[00:06:16] and trying to encourage one another.
[00:06:18] But nothing encourages our soul like the Word of God.
[00:06:22] That's right.
[00:06:22] And you get that at God's restaurant.
[00:06:25] We wouldn't call it Apple Beans.
[00:06:29] We'd call it Jesus Beans.
[00:06:31] No, Jesus.
[00:06:32] That was horrible.
[00:06:34] But that's the best you can.
[00:06:35] It's late tonight.
[00:06:37] It is.
[00:06:38] It's past my bedtime.
[00:06:40] Bear with my friend here.
[00:06:43] Well, Pastor Dave, thank you.
[00:06:44] You're welcome.
[00:06:46] I see you.
[00:06:47] These subjects are up.
[00:06:48] Everybody gets a chance to hear this,
[00:06:52] and I hope their folks will listen and know that, hey, there is a better way.
[00:06:58] There is a better way, and that way is Jesus Christ,
[00:07:01] and he's the best food of all.
[00:07:03] That's right.
[00:07:04] And I know your wife is behind the camera.
[00:07:05] My wife sitting over here has moral support
[00:07:08] because you and I are sitting awfully close together.
[00:07:10] So, it's best we have the ladies here with us.
