[00:00:00] Real Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.
[00:00:07] Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. Do you ever wonder why people make up things about other people? Why do they make up stuff?
[00:00:16] Well, we're in the book of Matthew chapter 26 and remember Jesus is in front of the Sanhedrin, the religious leaders of that day. It's about one o'clock in the morning on Good Friday morning.
[00:00:26] And this is what it says about what the chief priests and the Pharisees and religious leaders were doing.
[00:00:32] Now, the chief priests and the whole council were seeking false testimony against Jesus that they might put him to death, but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward.
[00:00:44] In other words, all these people came forward making stuff up that Jesus never did or never said with one express purpose.
[00:00:52] To manipulate the situation and to put Jesus to death.
[00:00:59] We see the same thing happening today about Jesus Christ.
[00:01:03] People make up things about him that are not true.
[00:01:07] That he's just a prophet.
[00:01:08] That he's just a great leader, a wise philosopher, a gifted order.
[00:01:13] Some people would even say that he didn't exist.
[00:01:17] Now, some of the things I said before are true, but he's so much more than that.
[00:01:21] And the people who say he's nothing more, nothing less than just a man.
[00:01:25] They're just making stuff up instead of identifying with the real things of what it says about Jesus in the scriptures.
[00:01:32] They just make up things about him and they categorically dismiss who he really is.
[00:01:39] Hmm.
[00:01:41] They're bearing false witness against the son of God, right?
[00:01:46] What's the eighth commandment say?
[00:01:47] Thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
[00:01:50] The greatest neighbor in life is Jesus Christ.
[00:01:55] And yet to this day, there's many people who just dismiss who he is and make things up about him.
[00:02:01] So I asked the question, why do people make things up?
[00:02:06] And here's the answer.
[00:02:09] Either to get their way or to manipulate a situation so that it looks good and goes in their favor.
[00:02:16] We see it politically, right?
[00:02:18] We especially saw it during the political races, right?
[00:02:21] People were making up stuff about each candidate all the time, right?
[00:02:26] We see it in political circles.
[00:02:28] We see it in families.
[00:02:29] We see it in the workplace.
[00:02:30] We see it in communities.
[00:02:32] We even see it in churches.
[00:02:34] So here's the thing.
[00:02:36] Try to honor the eighth commandment by putting the best construction on everything, giving people the benefit of the doubt and seeing people in the most positive light and trying to resist simply making things up about them.
[00:02:51] And especially, let's be honest about who Jesus is and why he came.
[00:02:57] And where we get a really good explanation about who Jesus is and why he came.
[00:03:02] The second article explanation of the Apostles Creed.
[00:03:06] It says this.
[00:03:07] I believe in Jesus Christ, true God, be God of the father from eternity and also true man born of the Virgin Mary.
[00:03:14] And he is my Lord who's redeemed me a lost and condemned creature purchased and won me from all sin from death and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver, but with his holy precious blood and his innocent suffering and death.
[00:03:29] Why? That I might be his own and live under him in his kingdom and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence and blessedness, just as he is risen from the dead and lives and reigns to all eternity.
[00:03:43] This is most certainly true.
[00:03:45] I love that great hymn.
[00:03:47] The church is one foundation.
[00:03:49] Oh, the church is one foundation is Jesus Christ, your Lord.
[00:03:52] He is her new creation by water and the word from heaven.
[00:03:57] He came to sought her to be his holy bride and by his own blood, he bought her and for her life.
[00:04:04] He died.
[00:04:06] I love that.
[00:04:07] So let's tell the truth about Jesus.
[00:04:09] We know, as we said yesterday, we know that God's hand was in this all.
[00:04:15] And yet these people came forward and made all kinds of accusations about Jesus.
[00:04:19] That was not true.
[00:04:21] Why do people make stuff up?
[00:04:24] Well, because they want to get their way or they're trying to manipulate a situation in their favor.
[00:04:29] Let's be honest.
[00:04:30] Let's be truthful, especially when it comes to who Jesus is and why he came.
[00:04:37] And that is today's Daily Truth.
[00:04:40] Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ.
