[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_01]: My name is Pastor Dave Ahlman and I was a senior pastor at Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada for about 25 years.

[00:00:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of these folks I've taken on tours before and every time I take folks on a tour, I share the Word of God,

[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_01]: especially in the, probably in the context that we're in. And so tomorrow we're going to be going to Niagara Falls, right?

[00:00:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And Niagara Falls, I think there's many words that you can use to describe Niagara Falls.

[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_01]: It's amazing, it's wonderful, but I want you to really think about as you see the falls and you hear the thunder of it and the clapping of it,

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_01]: and the clouds are around and it's an incredible visual and it's amazing to see.

[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I want you to think about this word, awesome.

[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's the word that many of us will use when we see that for the first time for many of us tomorrow.

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Now, I want to go off track a little bit and ask you this question.

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_01]: When Jesus Christ appeared the very first time, when he came to planet Earth 2,000 years ago,

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: what did people say about him if he walked in a room?

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's say we're back 2,000 years and we're sitting around eating at Texas Roadhouse, you know,

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and all of a sudden Jesus, the Son of God, the Son of Nazareth, walked in.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_01]: What would we say?

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Do you think we'd say, wow, what an amazing guy?

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_01]: What an incredible guy. Look at that guy.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_01]: He must be the Son of God.

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_01]: The book of Isaiah tells us that when he appeared the first time, he was just a normal-looking dude.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_01]: On a scale of one to ten, he was probably a five.

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't a Tom Cruise, a Tom Selleck.

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm showing my age. Tom Selleck is probably a five now, okay?

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: But he wasn't that, right?

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_01]: He was just an everyday, normal-looking guy.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_01]: You would not look at him and say, oh my goodness, there's the Son of God, there's the Savior of the world,

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_01]: there's the promised Messiah. Look at him.

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: He's majestic. He's powerful. He's awesome.

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Wouldn't say that.

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: But the next time he comes, and he could come at any time,

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_01]: the next time he comes, the Bible says that every knee shall bow and tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Both believers and non-believers alike will say the same thing.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01]: He's the King of Kings, wonderful Counselor, mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_01]: He is awesome.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Now he talked about that some two or three days before he was crucified and resurrected.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is what he says in Matthew chapter 25.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_01]: This is verse 31. Listen to this.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: When the Son of Man comes in his glory,

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: he's going to come in radiance and splendor and power and might.

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be shining like the sun on the Mount of Transfiguration.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_01]: He was shining like the sun, so radiant, so bright, so brilliant,

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: that even the best sunglasses in the world could not take away the light that was emanating from his body.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: He appeared in glory, but then he went back down the mountain and he looked just like a normal, everyday dude.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And what Peter, James, and John had then was a picture, a visual of what Jesus is going to look like when he comes back.

[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And so it says when the Son of Man comes in his glory and radiance, power and splendor,

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_01]: and all the angels with him, when Christ comes back,

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_01]: he's going to send angels to the four corners of the world, the four winds,

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and gather both believers and non-believers and bring them before the throne of Jesus.

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is what it says.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_01]: When the Son of Man comes in glory with all his angels, then he will sit on his glorious throne.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And so we will behold the face of Christ.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_01]: There'll be no doubt in everybody's mind who he is and why he came.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And I believe the word that we will use, not only the wonderful words that we identify in Scripture,

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_01]: that we will say, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord,

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_01]: but I believe it'll be the same word that we use when Jesus comes back

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: that we're going to use for the Niagara Falls tomorrow.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And forever we'll be with the Lord.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And all the problems of this life and all the problems of your life will be gone.

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And every difficulty will fade away.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And every sickness will disappear.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: And there will be no more death.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And then our Savior will take us home to be with him forever,

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_01]: where forever we can behold his face and together say in unison,

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_01]: forever and ever, our Lord is awesome.

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's have a word of prayer.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Father, thank you so much for the incredible love that you've given us through your Son.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And we love you, Jesus.

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_01]: We thank you, Jesus, that you came the first time to save us.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And because you died and rose again for us,

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_01]: we know that through repentance and faith in you, Lord Jesus,

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_01]: we have forgiveness and the promise of eternal life and a better day to come.

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_01]: We look forward to the time, Jesus, when you return in your glory, in your power, in your might,

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_01]: when you send out the four angels and bring all people before your throne,

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_01]: and you'll be seated on your throne, and we will behold your face forever.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And we can say together how awesome you really are.

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_01]: So thank you, God, for this time.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And thank you for this blessing of being together tonight.

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And help us to get to our destination now safely.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you again for all you do for us and continue to do for us.

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_01]: You indeed are awesome.

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: In Jesus' precious name, we pray all these things.
