[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Real Truth Daily, this is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.
[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Good morning everybody. So good to see you all. Hope you all slept well.
[00:00:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to be going to Niagara Falls today and there is a river. Does anybody know the name of the river that divides North America from, actually from Canada from the United States? Does anybody know the name of the river?
[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't either. No, I'm just kidding. It's called the Niagara River.
[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so we're going to be talking about separation today in our little devotion because we have this river that separates Canada from the United States, right?
[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Talking about separation. In Jesus' day when shepherds would put their sheep away at night, they would separate the sheep from the goats.
[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And the reason they did that is the goats, because they didn't have any fur really or wool,
[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_01]: they needed to be huddled together and kind of in a comfortable spot. But sheep would be out in the field by themselves.
[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And they didn't need all that because they had all that fur or all that wool.
[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Jesus talks about, listen to this, the separation of sheep from goats.
[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And the shepherd would separate the sheep from the goats in Jesus' day.
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And he used that as an analogy and a comparison to what's going to happen when he comes back.
[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And I want you to listen to these words. This is Jesus speaking in Matthew chapter 25, verse 32.
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_01]: So what that's a picture of is when Jesus comes back, those who are believers in Christ, who are sheep of the shepherd, will be taken to heaven eternally.
[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_01]: The goats will be eternally separated from him. So Jesus will separate believers from non-believers.
[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And if you're a believer in Christ, that makes you a sheep of the good shepherd, right?
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Jesus said this in John chapter 10.
[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_01]: He said, my sheep know me and they follow me and I know them and I will give them eternal life and they will never perish and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_01]: If you're a believer in Christ, repentance and faith in the Christ who lived for you, who died for you and who rose again for you, then when Christ comes back, you are a sheep.
[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And he'll take you eternally to the heavenly kingdom to live with him forever.
[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why as sheep of the good shepherd, we say this with the psalmist in Psalm 23.
[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_01]: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his namesake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.
[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over.
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Woo! Amen!
[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So here's the thing. We're sheep of the shepherd.
[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And we know that the shepherd is leading and guiding and sustaining and feeding and comforting and guiding his home.
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And as we put our trust in him, someday as sheep of the good shepherd, we'll see him face to face and he'll say, let's go home.
[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And he'll separate then the sheep from the, you guys say it, the goats.
[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And we as sheep will be in the eternal pen of our good shepherd Jesus Christ.
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And some people have asked me, well what's heaven going to be like? It's going to be, we talked about it yesterday.
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_01]: What's the word we learned yesterday? Awesome! It's going to be awesome!
[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Because all the problems of our life will be gone and we'll be in the presence of God forever.
[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll fellowship with fellow believers.
[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, sometimes we don't always get along down here on earth, isn't that right?
[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: To live above with saints we love, oh that will be glory.
[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_01]: But to live below with saints we know, now that's a different story.
[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that right?
[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: But when we get to heaven, everything will be perfect.
[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll be with our Lord Jesus.
[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And we truly are and forever will be sheep of the good shepherd.
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Amen?
[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Amen.
