Angels, Angels, Angels! | Psalm 91:11-12 and Matthew 24:31

[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It's 1986 and my wife and I were traveling back from Denver to Burlington, Colorado.

[00:00:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It was late at night and it was a driving rainstorm

[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And all of a sudden our minivan, a 1983 Dodge minivan

[00:00:22] [SPEAKER_01]: How many of you remember those? I don't think they make those anymore

[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, we're traveling along. All of a sudden my car just stopped

[00:00:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Our vehicle just stopped in the middle of a driving rainstorm

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And I am not very mechanically inclined and I had no idea what was wrong with our vehicle

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a guy riding a motorcycle in a driving rainstorm pulled up behind us

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: He got off his cycle, came around to the side, knocked on the window, rolled on your window

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I did, he said what's wrong? And I said I'm not sure but it won't run

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And he said okay let me take a look and pop up the hood

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So I hit the thing underneath the dash and he propped up the hood

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And he looked at him and did some stuff and you know, won't be hold, you know

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_01]: He said I think it should be good now

[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I said okay, so I started it up and around just fine

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_01]: He said go ahead and meet me at the next town lineman and I'll pump some gas into your car

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'll get it don't worry about it all pay for it just to make sure I want to make sure everything is okay

[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So he did that we pulled into the gas station in lineman

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_01]: He build up our vehicle with gas

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I said thank you so much he said no problem

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And all of a sudden it's not like he disappeared but all of a sudden I looked away

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_01]: A was gone

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_01]: The next morning I walked over to church

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_01]: We were at Burlington Colorado as I said Trinity Lutheran church

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And I walked to church because we were a one car family in my wife

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Got up that morning and had to make some marins run some marins

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And she got up the car and she said Dave the car won't run

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_01]: There's something wrong

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I said really what's going on she said I have no idea

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I said call the gas station guy the attendant guy

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Haven't come over the mechanic guy and haven't looked at it

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So he looked at it and he called me on the phone and he said this

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_01]: He said sir, how did you get that vehicle home last night

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I said I don't know I made the guy did some stuff

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_01]: You arrange some stuff and it started to run he said your timing chain is broken

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_01]: There is no way you should have gotten home last night

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's a miracle that you did

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Now some people would say that's just luck

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: That's just coincidence

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Or those things happen you've all heard that

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And I believe it's much more than that

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Today we're going to be talking about angels

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And I've entitled this message angels angels angels

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And angels do some amazing things

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And the New Testament they are proclaimers of the things of God

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_01]: As you remember Joseph was afraid to take Mary as his wife

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_01]: As a matter of fact he had thought that she was unfaithful

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And who appears damn to make sure he gets this story straight

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And angel did

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And the angel said do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: For that which is conceived in her is conceived by the Holy Spirit

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And then sure enough about nine months later what happens

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Jesus is born, shepherds are watching over their flocks

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_01]: All of a sudden the sky is lit up with heavenly light

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And angel says fear not

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_01]: An angel says fear not

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I love what Rodson and angel says fear not

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_01]: And how many times are we built with fear

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_01]: And yet there's 365 fear not in the Word of God

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is one of them

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Proclaim by an angel

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Fear not for be all I bring you good news of great joy

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Which will be unto you and to all people for unto you is born this day

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_01]: In the city of David is Savior who is Christ the Lord

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And this shall be a sign unto you

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_01]: You will find the baby wrapped in swallowing clothes

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And laying in a manger

[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And suddenly the angel was all by himself

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And suddenly he left

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: See if you guys were awake

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_01]: What happened

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, heavens

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_01]: We're filled with heavenly angels singing glory to God in the highest

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And peace on earth

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Goodwill toward men

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_01]: So you're probably thinking well that's the Bible

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_01]: That happened in the Bible

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_01]: What do angels have to do with us today?

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to share three points with you today about what angels do

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: And I encourage you to go ahead and write this down and take notes

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Here's the first thing they do

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_01]: They serve and protect

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_01]: It sounds like policemen, right?

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_01]: How many times we see on police cars

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_01]: There are all is to serve and protect

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the exact role

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_01]: That angels have in your life

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And we look at this verse I love it

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead and look at it on the screen

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_01]: This is what God says about you

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Today right now

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And so many times I forget about this passage

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: We are not only never abandoned by God

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_01]: But never abandoned by our angel

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_01]: That was bestowed upon us in our baptism

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_01]: That worked 365 days a year

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: 247

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Gardying, protecting, serving

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And making sure that we are safe

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Did you know that?

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And how many of us at times

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll say I was fortunate

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I was lucky

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my lucky star signed on me

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm may that never come

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_01]: The lips of a follower of Jesus Christ

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Who believes in what I'm talking about today

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_01]: This is what it says

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_01]: This is in the text

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It says this

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_01]: For you will command he will command his angels

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And I want you to stop right there

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_01]: He will command his angels

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_01]: In other words, God the Father

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Says to his whole host of angels

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Here is your command

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Take care of my people

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_01]: He will command his angels

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_01]: This is what I want you to do

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Guard protect and serve my people

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: For he will command his angels

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Concerning you to guard you in all your ways

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what God has done in your life

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Through his angel

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_01]: When you've been in perilous situations

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And you are rescued and delivered from it

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't locker fate or chance

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_01]: It was the angel working overtime

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Doing what angels do best

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_01]: And that is to take care of you

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Listen to the verse 12

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_01]: On their hands they will bury you up

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I love that

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_01]: That means they carry you

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_01]: You're being supported and lifted up and carried

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_01]: By your holy angel

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Less to strike your foot against the stone

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_01]: In other words, basically saying to keep you safe

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Now you might be thinking

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_01]: But there have been times in my life

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_01]: When the angel must have been sleeping

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Or not doing his work

[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Because I was in a perilous situation

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And it was not good

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I was hurt

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I was damaged

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Things didn't turn out well

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Now you've heard me preach enough to know

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_01]: That everything that happens in our life is for a purpose

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And when you've been in a perilous situation

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And you got hurt

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_01]: God permitted that

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I believe that nothing happens in our life

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't cross God's desk first

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And when perilous situations occurred in your life

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And you were stunned by it

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And you were affected by it

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And you were hurt by it

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_01]: God allowed that to happen

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I think of my hip

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You know my first hip hip surgery

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_01]: As you know seven years ago

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_01]: This hip two weeks later

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I was 100%

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_01]: With this one

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Three months later

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm still not 100%

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm wondering what has got up to

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Have you ever wondered that

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Can I say why I guess my angel didn't do his job

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess my angel wasn't a work

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess my angel fell asleep

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_01]: No, God permits things in our lives

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_01]: To formulate us more and more

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Into the image of Christ

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And less and less into the image of us

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Are you with me?

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And so when things come into our life

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Where we do get stung

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Where we do get hurt

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Where we do

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Experience pain

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_01]: God is still at work

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And our angels are still on the job

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And we need to remember that

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So I want you to think about your life

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Parallel situations

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_01]: That you were in

[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Dangerous situations

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_01]: That you were in

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And somehow in some way

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Through your holy angel

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_01]: God rescued

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And delivered

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And served and protected you

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Every one of you

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_01]: If I ask you come up here and give me a story

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_01]: About a time when you're in a dangerous situation

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And somehow you are protected

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Every one of you have a story about that

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And we would be here the rest of the day

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Talking about the serving and protecting agency

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Of God's angels

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And so many times we just take this for granted

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I believe that what this word says today

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Is true

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Can I get an amen?

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go ahead and read it together

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Once again

[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_01]: For he will command his angels

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Concerning you to guard you

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_01]: In all your ways

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_01]: On their hands they will bury you up

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Last you strike your foot against the stone

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_01]: That's all the time

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So you're going to note here

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_01]: That this outline rhymes

[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_01]: So part of the angel's job

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Is to serve and protect

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And secondly

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Part of the angel's job is to gather the elect

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Right?

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Once that

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_01]: When is this going to happen

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_01]: To gather the elect

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_01]: As you know

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_01]: When daily truths have been gone through Matthew chapter 24

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_01]: That's where we're at

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And Jesus talks specifically

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_01]: About the role of angels

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_01]: When he comes back

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And the trumpet sounds

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And the dead are raised

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_01]: This is incredible stuff

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_01]: This is what it says

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And he will send out his angels

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_01]: With a loud trumpet call

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_01]: For Cecilonia's chapter 4

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Says this

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Lord himself will descend with the shout

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_01]: With the voice of the archangel

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And the trumpet call of God

[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_01]: When Christ comes back

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_01]: A trumpet will sound

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Resounding the fact that the king of kings

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_01]: And Lord of Lords is entering

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_01]: The creation that he has made

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_01]: So he will send out his angels

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_01]: With a loud trumpet call

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Now know what they do there

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And they will gather his elect

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_01]: From where?

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_01]: What to say?

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_01]: From the four winds

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_01]: That means from all over the globe

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_01]: North South East and West

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the direction the wind comes from

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_01]: So this is basically saying

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_01]: When Christ comes back

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_01]: All the elect the angels

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Job will be to gather those

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Who are chosen by God

[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_01]: To be his precious own

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And they will somehow

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And some way

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Gather them

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And bring them

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Before the throne of Jesus

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And the Bible also says

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_01]: That those who are non-believers

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Will be gathered

[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Before the throne of Jesus

[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And then what will the judgment be

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_01]: For those who are believers in Christ

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Robbed in His righteousness

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Sin forgiven

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Reconciled to God

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_01]: The judgment upon us

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Will be not guilty

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And will be usher to the presence of God

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Living there forever

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_01]: But those who don't acknowledge Jesus

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is important

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Because there's a lot of universalists

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Here today, not here today

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_01]: But in the world today

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And one of them is a pope

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And you've heard me say this before

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_01]: The pope believes

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_01]: That everybody who believes in

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Whatever God is out there

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Is all going to be saved

[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_01]: There's only one way to salvation

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_01]: There's only one way to heaven

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And that way is faith in Jesus Christ

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And we have one opportunity

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And that is during our lifetime

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_01]: To put our trust in Him

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_01]: And when we die, the Bible says

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a point in a man

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Once to die and then the judgment

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_01]: The declaration of whether we're saved

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Or not saved

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Happens the moment we pass on

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Are you with me?

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Can I get an amen?

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay?

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_01]: There's no second chance

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_01]: There's no intermediate state

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_01]: There's no

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Making it to purgatory

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And somehow people praying you

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Into eternal life

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_01]: So when Christ comes back

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_01]: He's going to the Bible says

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Separate the sheep from the goats

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Believers from non-believers

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And non-believers will be

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Turnily separated from God

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_01]: This is what Mark chapter 16 says

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_01]: That God wants all people to be saved

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And to come to the knowledge of the truth

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_01]: That God indeed brings us to salvation

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And those who don't trust in Him

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Are eternally separated from Him forever

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_01]: No second chance

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I've talked a lot of people

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Down through the years

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Who said I don't believe in Christ

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_01]: But if you really does exist

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: When I see Him coming back

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll put my trust in Him then

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_01]: By then it's too late

[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_01]: So getting back to the text

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_01]: The angels roll

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_01]: When Christ comes back and he says

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_01]: This is what I want you to do guys

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be returning

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Go gather all my people

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Bring them before me

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'll take them home

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_01]: To live with them forever

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_01]: That's basically what Jesus is saying

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Did I share with you the story about being a baristadium

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think a fourth of July

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I know I did it in a D.T.

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_01]: The fourth of July

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think I did here for some of you

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_01]: That may have not heard this so I'm at

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's awesome

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Best fireworks in the state at that time

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Like 1967

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_01]: So we're there enjoying the fireworks

[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And also they have this configuration

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Of a Denver Bear, Denver Brock or something

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_01]: On the fence

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_01]: You see that they light it and it goes

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's this figure of whatever it was

[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay so they like this thing

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And the fence catches on fire

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And my mom looks at my dad and says

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's get out of here

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And my dad says you're right honey

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go home

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Last week we talked about the stars

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Falling from the sky

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And the sun losing its light

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And the moon not shining anymore

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And when all of that happens

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to look at each other and say

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's get out of here

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And the Lord will say you're right honey

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go home

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_01]: This is the comfort and assurance we have

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_01]: As the angels gather us before the throne of God

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_01]: His judgment upon us will be not guilty

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And will be ushered in the presence of God

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_01]: To live with Him forever

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about you

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_01]: But I can't wait

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Because I experience suffering and pain

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And heartache and loss and difficulty and trial and tragedy

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And so do you

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_01]: But there's a day coming

[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_01]: When everything will be fixed

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And everything will be right

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is why you're a believer in Christ's folks

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not for this life now

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_01]: It's for the life to come

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Knowing indeed that we're so generous

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Travelers, wayfares

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Heading to a much better place

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And the angels will gather us before the throne room of God

[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And Jesus will then take us home

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So the role of the angels is to serpent protect

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Together the elect

[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And finally, to make appearances that are so elect

[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I really believe this passage

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Still holds true today

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_01]: That I'm about to read you

[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And I pause because I want you to think about that

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_01]: This is what it says

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Do not neglect the show hospitality

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_01]: To strangers for thereby some of entertain

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Angels unaware

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_01]: The first story I shared with you today

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I am convinced that that was not a human being

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And you might say, I don't know

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_01]: We never saw the guy again

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_01]: What happened was a miracle

[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_01]: We shouldn't have gotten home

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I believe it was an angel

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I believe in this passage that it applies to this day

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Let me tell you another story and conclusion about that

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So remember where we're at

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we said the angels role is to serve and protect

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's look at the second one

[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_01]: To gather the elect

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And finally, to make appearances that are select meaning

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_01]: They show up every once in a while

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Special Angels not angels that are just with us

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Protecting and serving us every day

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_01]: But angels that have a specific job at a specific time

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Many of you know that our youngest son was in a horrific accident

[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_01]: When he was six and you've heard me talk about that

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't need to talk about the details of that

[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_01]: But we were in Israel when we found out

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_01]: They had to take him to the hospital

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_01]: By helicopter, flight for life

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And we weren't sure while we're in the air

[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we're in the plane

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_01]: We weren't sure that he would be alive

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_01]: By the time we landed

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So we prayed and cried

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And read scripture for that 13 hours in the plane

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It was frightening quite frankly

[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I was literally shaking

[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_01]: The whole way home

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Thinking about what the possibilities could be when we landed

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So when we finally did land

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_01]: There was a lady in African-American

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_01]: She said, I've been late. I'll never forget it

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And she turned around and she looked at Beth and I

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And she said this

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I've listened to everything you've said

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And everything you've prayed

[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And I want you to know

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Your little boy is going to be

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Just fine

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I looked at my wife and I said, I sure hope that's true

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So we gathered our stuff and we walked down the aisle

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_01]: If you ever noticed how people are when they are ready to get off a plane

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_01]: If you ever notice that it's like they can't wait

[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like they can't wait to get out of their seat

[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_01]: If you ever notice that, okay finally the plane stops

[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_01]: The thing goes off, you know

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And they're up and they're always going

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Get my stuff, get my stuff, get my stuff

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Then stand there

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Right

[00:19:40] Right

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Can't get off

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Got away

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_01]: So we did the same thing, got all our stuff

[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I thought man that was one of the most comforting things

[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I've ever heard of my life, with that lady said

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So we got, went to the baggage place

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Look for that lady she was gone

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Could not find her anywhere

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_01]: My point is

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_01]: You've had situations in your life

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Where an angel made a select appearance

[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And did an incredible work

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And suddenly they were gone

[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And you wondered

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Who was that?

[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And you know what they did

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I for one needed this message today

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Because I for one forget so often what I've talked about today

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_01]: What is the role of angels to serve and protect

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Together, the elect

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And to make appearances that are select

[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And that is the role

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Among other things

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_01]: That is the role

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Of God's holy angels

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank God for these ministering spirits

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_01]: That minister to us

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Every moment

[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_00]: This helps us tremendously
