[00:00:00] We'll truth, Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman. There's a third reason why many people go to Mega-churches. It's because they can become easily lost. They can go in, they can hear the proclamation of the word, hopefully they
[00:00:40] hear the word. They can hear amazing music and then they can go home and they really don't have to get involved because after all they can go in cognito, really nobody knows
[00:00:51] them, they can slip in and slip out. It's all easy. It's all neat. It's all just fine. But is that really what the church is all about? I want to go ahead and read for you,
[00:01:01] Matthew 20 verses 1 through 4. For the Kingdom of Heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning tire laborers for his vineyard. And after agreeing with the laborers for a dinner day he sent them into his vineyard. And going about the third
[00:01:18] hour, that's nine o'clock in the morning. He saw other standing idle in the marketplace and said to them, you go into the vineyard too. And whatever is right, I will give you. So they went. So here's the deal. The master is God. The people working in the vineyard
[00:01:36] are believers in Christ. The vineyard is the church. And so basically what this is saying is, want to come to faith in Jesus Christ, your part of a local congregation, at least you should be. And there's something that you can do inside that congregation to bless
[00:01:54] the body of Christ, to extend the kingdom and to serve one another in love. And so you identify your talents or spiritual gifts and also you identify what you're passionate about, what you're excited about, what you're good at. And then you're utilized and implemented
[00:02:10] is served the Lord in the church by serving other people. This is what we are called to do. At peace within church, the church I used to serve. Our discipleship process was worship,
[00:02:22] connect and serve. And so here in this text, the master is saying, once you come to know Jesus, this is what God is saying, once you come to know Jesus, your part of a local
[00:02:34] congregation and your to use your gifts and talents to serve one another in love. I got to tell you about the church that I currently serve, Mount Hope Lutheran Church in Boulder, Colorado.
[00:02:44] When I got there, the average age is getting younger now. But when I got there, the average age was probably 75. Here's the thing, they're probably 35, 40 people in worship, everybody served. Do you know why? They had to because if they wouldn't do it, what? And so
[00:03:04] nothing was ever said at that congregation or ever has been said, well I've served my time, I did my committee work, I did my board work, I served on this and that. I want to rest now,
[00:03:13] nobody says that. Why? Because they realize either gifted and be they're supposed to use our gifts to serve one another in love. I got to tell you a couple of stories too. I've got
[00:03:25] a mother-in-law who I don't know, I don't know, I don't know where age you shouldn't know. But she's getting up there and she is a wonderful crafter. And so she has this shop and she makes
[00:03:35] these wood crafts, she's crosses, I got a bunch of crosses and various things that she's made out of wood. And what she does is that's the way she serves a Lord and she makes confirmation,
[00:03:47] plaques and things like that for people it's just amazing. She's using her gift and talents. And by the way, she really enjoys it. So it's a way that she can serve the Lord at my son's church, Christ's Greenfield Lutheran Church down in Gilbert, Arizona. Their discipleship process is
[00:04:09] discover, develop and deploy. Discover ones gifts, develop those gifts and then deploy them for ministry. I love that. In this text, the master was saying, who will work and my vineyard? God is saying the same thing to you. If you're not involved in your local congregation,
[00:04:32] using your gifts and talents to serve the Lord by serving other people, go to your pastor, go to your leaders and say, I want to get involved. I need to get involved. I know I'm gifted.
[00:04:44] I know that God has gifted me just as he's gifted every person in the local congregation. Help me find and discover what my spiritual gifts are, what my talents are,
[00:04:54] and then let me utilize them to the glory of God in this place. I want to tell you that we'll fill your bucket. It will serve a need in the local congregation, and you'll bless other people,
[00:05:05] and you will be blessed as well as you do just that. Okay? If you are serving in the local congregation, keep it up. This is a word of encouragement to you that we appreciate what you're doing. God bless
[00:05:19] you for doing it, and may you continue to use your gifts and talents to glorify God, extend the kingdom, and serve the body of Christ in that place. And that is today's daily
[00:05:29] truth. Have a great day in Jesus Christ. Thank you for tuning in to daily truths with Dave Olman. Pastor Dave Olman is the pastor of Mount Hochurch in Boulder, Colorado. If you feel led, would you consider giving to this ministry? Your text to Dr. Bulldonation helps us continue
