Matthew 24:40-41 - Jesus talks straightforwardly about the separation of believers from unbelievers when He returns. Pastor Dave then emphasizes the necessity of telling others about Jesus before it's too late

[00:00:00] Real Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.
[00:00:07] Hi everybody. Welcome back to Daily Truths. I want you to take an assessment of how many
[00:00:11] people that you hang out with, that you work with, actually are Christians, actually know
[00:00:16] Christ as Savior and Lord. How many of your family members? How many of your neighbors?
[00:00:23] How many of your coworkers? How many people that you hang out with at school? How many
[00:00:27] folks that you know that you hang out with on a regular basis, actually are Christians?
[00:00:35] You might be saying, well not all of them. And you might even say, not most of them.
[00:00:41] And that's really unfortunate. I want you to think about this. This is end time stuff that Jesus
[00:00:45] is talking about in Matthew chapter 24 verses 40 and 41. And I'll explain this. Then two men
[00:00:52] will be in the field. One will be taken and one left. Actually, in Jesus' day that's what people
[00:00:57] did. They worked in the field and two might have been working in the same field right next to each
[00:01:02] other. And what's he talking about? That when he comes back, one will be taken into heaven and
[00:01:08] one will not be taken into heaven. One will be quote, left behind, eternally separated from
[00:01:14] God, cast into hell. Then he says this, two women will be grinding at the mill. And
[00:01:20] actually the mill was in the home. And so the grain is taken to the women in the home. They needed two
[00:01:25] actually to do the milling, if you will. One to grind it and one to bag it and put it together.
[00:01:31] And so two women will be grinding at the mill. One will be taken and one left. Again, what's
[00:01:36] this mean? That when Christ comes back, one will be taken to heaven and one will be eternally
[00:01:41] separated from God. This is frightening. My friends, that's what's going to happen with
[00:01:45] people who don't know Jesus. They'll be eternally separated from God, cast into hell, even as heaven
[00:01:52] is a real place. So hell is a real place. And what Jesus here is saying is those who know him
[00:01:58] will be ushered into heaven. Those who don't will be ushered into hell. So we talked about
[00:02:05] here just a minute or two ago of the people that you hang out with. How many of them
[00:02:11] actually know Jesus? And here's the thing. If they don't, you know what their destiny is going to be.
[00:02:19] So what are you going to do about it? I have three suggestions. Number one, pray that they would come
[00:02:25] to faith by the power of the Holy Spirit. Number two, build. Build a relationship with them whereby
[00:02:33] you know them. You can help them. You listen to their concerns and problems. You build a
[00:02:39] relationship with them, spend time with them. And here's the thing. A lot of us as Christians
[00:02:44] spend absolutely no time with unbelievers or very little time with unbelievers. And so you think about
[00:02:50] the people that you hang out with, maybe at work that don't know Jesus when I say hang out with,
[00:02:55] meaning you got to work with them, but you really don't spend any time building a relationship
[00:02:59] with them. Think about that. If we are in mission and ministry for the mission of the
[00:03:07] Lord Jesus Christ, that necessitates the fact that we must build a relationship with unbelievers.
[00:03:14] Because if we don't, how in the world will they ever trust us enough to be receptive to what we
[00:03:20] say about Jesus? So pray for them, build a relationship with them. And number three,
[00:03:26] tell them. Tell them about the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember we've talked about a lot
[00:03:31] in Daily Truth to always be prepared to give a testimony of the hope that lives within you.
[00:03:36] So your testimony should include sin that we can't save ourselves, that God loved us enough,
[00:03:43] that he sent his son Jesus to live and die and rise again for us. And through repentance and faith,
[00:03:48] our sins are forgiven and we get to go to heaven. This is the gospel in a nutshell.
[00:03:54] John 3 16 says it's so beautifully, Gert, for God so loved the world that he gave his
[00:03:59] only begotten son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
[00:04:03] This is what people need to hear. And Jesus is very clear here, hey, two guys be working in the field
[00:04:11] when he comes back. One is going to be taken up into heaven. The one other is going to be left behind.
[00:04:15] He's currently separated from God and cast him down. This is what Jesus is saying. It's pretty stern
[00:04:21] words. And so may we pray for them, build a relationship with them and look for opportunities
[00:04:28] to testify of the grace of God. Okay? So that is today's Daily Truth. Have a great day in the Lord Jesus
[00:04:36] Christ. Thank you for tuning in to Daily Truths with Dave Alman. Pastor Dave Alman is the pastor of
