[00:00:00] We'll truth, Daily, This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman

[00:00:08] Hi everybody and Matthew chapter 22 Jesus tells a parable about a king who wants to have a wedding

[00:00:13] fees for his son so he sends out invitations and people say we're not going to come. Then he says,

[00:00:18] okay all the preparations have been made the food has prepared the oxen has been killed, the fat and

[00:00:23] the cat has been killed, come and celebrate with my son but this is what it says in verse 5.

[00:00:29] But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the

[00:00:34] rest seized his servants treated them, shamefully and killed them. Basically this is saying

[00:00:38] the Jewish nation when Jesus came on the scene and all the prophets before Jesus came

[00:00:44] on the scene their message was rejected, many of the prophets were killed and they basically

[00:00:50] said we have other things to do, we have careers, we have businesses, we have a farm, we don't

[00:00:56] have time to acknowledge Jesus as Messiah, we got other priorities in life and

[00:01:02] basically it was rejection of Jesus messianic rule. That's what Jesus is saying in this parable.

[00:01:09] Now careers and rejection of Jesus Christ today still is a big deal. We see that predominating

[00:01:17] in many countries and many cultures, in many pockets here in the United States. Here's what

[00:01:23] the Scriptures say about that. What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and

[00:01:27] yet loses his soul? Jesus told a parable about a farmer who is very successful and

[00:01:32] wanted to be even more successful. So he tore down his barns and built bare ones,

[00:01:37] sitting back and taking it easy and living a life of leisure when suddenly he was ready

[00:01:42] to die, didn't know God, didn't know Christ and his soul was required of him. In other words,

[00:01:48] he was going to die without a saving relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.

[00:01:53] St. Paul put it this way in 1 Timothy chapter 6. He said we brought nothing into this world

[00:01:59] and it is certain that we can carry nothing out. If we have food and clothing, let us there

[00:02:04] with be content. So in other words, all this is saying to you in me today, never let

[00:02:10] careers or any worldly pursuit become more important to you or let it become a hindrance

[00:02:18] for you between you and your relationship with God. Let me say that again, hopefully more

[00:02:23] clearly. Never let careers or any worldly pursuit become a hindrance to your relationship

[00:02:29] God. There we go. I said a better there. So prioritize church, prioritize family

[00:02:36] devotions, prioritize your prayer time, prioritize DT everyday, prioritize Bible study

[00:02:44] or being in a small group, let no earthly pursuit, especially our careers obliterate

[00:02:50] or become hindrance to deepening our relationship with God. Now if that's you, if that's what's

[00:02:56] happening in your life or you know someone maybe a kid or a grand kid or a fellow

[00:03:03] worker at work where their careers become so important, they're neglecting, worship time,

[00:03:09] neglecting their relationship with God and you can tell it by the way they're living.

[00:03:14] Let them hear this video. Of course, they might say, wow, I'm not that bad.

[00:03:21] But let this maybe more than anything, let this be and encourage you to talk to them about

[00:03:28] their priorities seemingly or out of balance. And I know that's a touchy thing. You know, I think that

[00:03:34] statement are we our brothers keepers? Yes, we are. We're accountable to one another in the body of Christ.

[00:03:40] And when we see someone going down a path that is not godly or going down a path where they're wandering

[00:03:46] further and further away from the gospel and further and further away from the body of Christ, somebody

[00:03:51] has to say something. And we can't leave that up the pastors. So hopefully this message is a good

[00:03:56] and good and good for you to never let careers or anywhere we pursue become more important to you than your relationship

[00:04:04] with God. Jesus told us parable because the Jewish people basically has said, hey, we don't need God.

[00:04:11] We don't need Christ. We don't need Jesus's Messiah. We don't believe in him anyway. We got businesses. We got farms.

[00:04:17] We got other things to pursue. Never let that happen to you. Jesus Christ is our all and all.

[00:04:24] He is our number one priority. Worship him, adore him, live for him, obviously believe in him and share him with others when the Holy Spirit opens the door.

[00:04:37] And that is today's daily truth. Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ.
