[00:00:00] We'll truth, Daily This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman
[00:00:07] Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. Have you ever told somebody something that
[00:00:12] actually happened and they didn't believe it? No matter what you told them, no matter
[00:00:16] what you showed them, you could have even shown them a video or taken pictures, they
[00:00:20] still wouldn't have believed it. We're in the book of Matthew chapter 21 and Jesus has told
[00:00:25] the story of the tenants. Remember the master had ten ends that took care of the vineyard
[00:00:31] and when it was time for the servants to come and get the fruit, they killed the first one,
[00:00:35] killed the second one even when the master said his son, the tenants killed that servant too.
[00:00:41] And of course that was talking about how Jesus was the ultimate servant, the ultimate
[00:00:46] one who came to serve and to seek it to save those who are lost. And what this story is
[00:00:51] is talking about the religious leaders who down through the years, killed the prophets,
[00:00:56] stone, the prophets, beat the prophets and even when Jesus came upon the scene,
[00:01:00] they didn't recognize him as such, they didn't recognize him as Messiah and they killed him too.
[00:01:06] Now Jesus told this story to the Pharisee size of the season, scribes and this is what we said,
[00:01:13] what do you think should happen? And this is what it says in this, when that, therefore
[00:01:17] the owner of the vineyard comes, what should he do to those tenants? In other words,
[00:01:21] those who killed the servants and even the master's son. Okay, what should they do with those
[00:01:27] tenants? They said, him, he will put those wrenches to a miserable death and let out the vineyard
[00:01:33] to other tenants, will give them the fruits in their seasons. Jesus said to them,
[00:01:37] have you never read in the scriptures, the stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone?
[00:01:44] What did Jesus mean by that? The builders, if you will, where the religious leader is the
[00:01:49] Jewish leaders down through the years. Now, the mantle of leadership has been passed onto the scribes,
[00:01:55] Pharisees, Sadducees, Chief Priest and elders. And with Jesus writing their bits,
[00:02:00] performing miracles right in their midst, they rejected him, they rebuffed him. Now why was that?
[00:02:07] Their eyes were blinded, obviously, they couldn't perceive Jesus for who he was,
[00:02:12] then connected dots as we talked about before. And so as a result of that, they just
[00:02:18] rejected him, rebuffed him and did not believe in him. Didn't believe that he was the coming Messiah.
[00:02:24] Now part of this was according to God's plan, obviously. God's plan was a Jesus would be rejected
[00:02:31] by men rejected by the Pharisees, Sadducees, and scribes so that he would be put to death.
[00:02:38] I mean, God used them if you will, as pawns. And so even though Jesus did all these miracles,
[00:02:43] they continued rejected. Finally, they tried him. They've found it to be a line of proclaiming
[00:02:49] himself to be the Son of God, a purger, a liar, a false prophet and they relegated him to
[00:02:54] a common criminals cross. Right? We know that. But why? Why did that happen? Now, because they rejected
[00:03:02] Christ, but it was according to God's plan. God's plan was a Jesus would go to the cross
[00:03:08] and that he would die for sin and die for sinners. And so the chief prescribes Pharisees, elders of
[00:03:14] the people, they all played right into the hands of God by finally during Holy Week saying,
[00:03:19] you know, we're going to crucify this guy. We're going to get him out of our midst. He's a false
[00:03:24] prophet and we reject him. Now what has happened with us? We've not rejected Jesus. We've a claim
[00:03:32] Jesus, uplifted Jesus, exalted Jesus, believed in Jesus. Why? Because the Holy Spirit has penetrated
[00:03:41] our hearts and brought us to faith. And here's the thing, we add nothing to do with it. The Holy
[00:03:48] Spirit did it all. It's kind of like a guy who's on an operating table. And all of a sudden he
[00:03:54] flatlines. His heart goes dead. He flatlines. And what does the surgeon do? He gets up the
[00:04:00] different later and gets those little paddles and goes boof to his heart. And what happens?
[00:04:06] Nothing. Doesn't again. Boof. And what happens? Nothing flatlines still. Boof. What happens?
[00:04:11] Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop. Now how much did that fellow who is dead for a little bit
[00:04:17] have to do it being revived? Nothing. How much do we have to do with coming to faith? The Holy
[00:04:24] Spirit does it all. We were born spiritually blind, dead, and enemies of God. And the Spirit
[00:04:33] of God through the Word resuscitated us like took the defibrillator of the Word of God in what Boof.
[00:04:41] And all of a sudden our heart, spiritual heart started beating with love and devotion and faith
[00:04:47] in Jesus Christ. Guys, here's what I'm saying. Even though the chief prescribes Pharisees,
[00:04:53] sadduces, leaders of the people, the elders and chief priests. Even though they rejected Christ.
[00:05:00] God had said, okay, your hearts are hardened, but you're going to play right into my hands
[00:05:05] because you want to crucify Jesus, the Son of God. I want him to be crucified too
[00:05:11] to take away our sin. Now unlike those Jewish leaders, we understand that Jesus is the stone
[00:05:18] which the builders, namely the religious leaders, the stone which the builders have rejected
[00:05:23] but he's become the chief cornerstone of our faith. And all I can say is thanks be to God
[00:05:31] for the Holy Spirit breathing new life in us, bringing us to faith, reviving us,
[00:05:36] resuscitating us, causing us to see the Jesus's Lord and Savior and King and Redeemer,
[00:05:44] the one who was, who is and who is to come. And that is today's daily truth. Have a great day
[00:05:51] in the Lord Jesus Christ.
