Six Cultural Fundamental Lies | John 17:16-17

[00:00:00] Daily Truths This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman. Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. What are six fundamental cultural lies that are prevalent today? Here they are, real quickly. Number one, we evolved from monkeys. Number two, there is no God. Number three, Jesus is just a prophet. Number four, there is no life beyond death. Number five, there's no all-life beyond death.

[00:00:29] The ultimate source of truth. And as a result of that, number six, there are no moral absolutes. Wow! What a pack of a bunch of lies. And pitted against that is the truth of God's Word and the truth that come from the lips of our Savior in the upper room speaking to God the Father in behalf of those who trust in Him.

[00:00:53] This is what He says in verse 16 and 17. They are not of the world, namely those who follow Jesus, specifically His disciples. They are not of the world just as I am not of the world, formulated by the sinful and evil influences of this world. That's what Jesus was saying.

[00:01:12] Verse 17, here's the main thing I want to say today. Jesus said, sanctify them in the truth. Your Word is truth. Here's the truth of God's Word pitted against these cultural fundamental lies that are all around us today. Truth number one, we did not evolve from monkeys. Truth number two, there is one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

[00:01:41] Truth number three, Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the promised Messiah, and the Savior of the world. Truth number four, through faith in Jesus, there is life beyond death, and we have eternal life through faith in Him. Truth number five, there is an ultimate source of truth, and the truth is found in the Word of God.

[00:02:03] Truth number six, there are moral absolutes found in the Word of God, and it is the ultimate, as I said before, the ultimate source of truth. So bottom line for you today, what are you going to do? Are you going to adhere to the lies of this culture, or are you going to adhere to and trust in and put your foundation in and your hope in the truth of God's Word?

[00:02:27] Jesus said it best when He said, sanctify them, namely us, set us apart for truth. Sanctify them in the truth. Your Word, He didn't say represents or has a part of or is influenced by. He said, your Word, here's the key word, is truth.

[00:02:47] If you're looking for truth in everyday life, how to live your life, how to treat each other people, how to treat other people, how to have a relationship with God, how to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you're saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, there is one source of truth, boom, this is it. It's the Word of God. Jesus said it best when He said this, sanctify them in the truth. What is the truth?

[00:03:16] Your Word is truth. Six fundamental lies, six fundamental truths. May we cling to the fundamental truths of God's Word.
