[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Real Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.

[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, good morning, Pastor Dave.

[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Kent.

[00:00:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, here we are at our other office. It's not that we didn't pay our bills.

[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we paid our bills.

[00:00:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, kind of interesting that we're in a parking lot today, but hey, we can do this anywhere, right?

[00:00:23] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I listened to the DT and I found it just really, really interesting when you're talking about the virgins and the ten virgins.

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And I thought if you could just kind of go over that again, because I know it's confusing to some people and there's some different ideas of what that means.

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_01]: But let's talk about that.

[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. So, from my perspective, folks, the ten virgins in that parable that Jesus told in the book of Matthew, the ten virgins represent believers in Christ, right?

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And the five foolish virgins are those who didn't keep their lamps lit.

[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Their lamp is their faith and the oil is God's word.

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_02]: But when the bridegroom came, namely when Jesus comes, they don't have faith because they don't have oil in their lamp.

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay? So, the oil is God's word.

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_02]: But the wise virgins, okay, were those, those, those are those believers who have continued to feed their faith with the oil of God's word and therefore ready for the second coming of the bridegroom, Jesus Christ.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, very good.

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it reminded me a little bit of in Wisconsin, my cousin got married here a few years ago and they had a chivalry.

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And the chivalry was...

[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Is that her name?

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Chivalry?

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_01]: No, it was, I was the chivalry.

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a thing, well, you know, like it is in Wisconsin.

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_01]: It was, it started off the first day as a giant beer fest.

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And so...

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_02]: No more schlitz or ham, such time.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: No, no.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So, anyway, it was, this thing went on for four days.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And, but they did separate the bride and the groom and then they later on brought them back up on their shoulders, you know, and they had this big reception thing in the barn, kind of like what you were talking about, how they had this little parade that, that went on.

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_01]: With the Jewish weddings.

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And they brought them in and they got back together again.

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And then after that, they were separated again.

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And we didn't get to see them until the wedding the next day.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So, which was pretty cool, but it reminded me of that, how that, that wedding was so, just so important, so incredible that, and these people were just so excited for this couple, so excited for this groom.

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I love it.

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_01]: To come back, you know, I was thinking with my cousin, he is coming back.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's funny that they were together and then they're apart and then they come back together.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they come back together again.

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, so there was parts of that that just reminded me of that when, especially when they went to the, went to the bride's house and to, to get her.

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Are you talking about the parable now?

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: The parable, I'm sorry.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And so they, they went to her house and brought him to the groom, brought her to the groom's house.

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Which you said he took him, you know, he, he prepared for a couple of months.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I've seen some of those homes, you know, when I was back there, if it took him two months to clean out that little, you know, 10 by 10, I don't know what he's doing.

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: He's pretty slug.

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: He's the toothbrush.

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know what all he did.

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's kind of interesting.

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_01]: It brought him back.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And just like you said, just like the second coming there, he, he's coming back to us.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And the whole idea, like you had just talked about keeping your lamps lit.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, we can't stress that enough when you talk about the oil of the lamp.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Yep.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Being the word.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yep.

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And the word, as we know it, the word is Jesus.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: The word is there.

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_01]: To, to be in that relationship with him and being in, be very diligent about staying in the word.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: It's so important.

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_01]: It really is.

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_01]: When, when he comes, we, we're going to be ready.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_01]: We got to be ready.

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_01]: We got to be ready.

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And Kent, I love what you said about the preparation that the bridegroom makes before he comes to get the bride.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And, and folks, in one of the DTs, we talked about, um, the preparation that Christ has made to come get the bride, the church.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_02]: And the preparation really took place 2000 years ago through his death and resurrection.

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And through his death and resurrection, the mansions are prepared, right?

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And so he's ready to go and he's ready to come back and take his home to be with him.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And of course, um, you, you talked about this, this, what'd you call it again?

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_02]: What was that?

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Chivalry.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Chivalry.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_02]: So, so the chivalry where all this excitement and joy and activity and celebration, all of that was happening.

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And every, one of the DTs, as you guys know, one of the DTs I made is weddings are pretty happy experiences.

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's happy.

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's having a good time.

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's there to celebrate.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's a picture of what it's going to be like when we get to heaven.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And you, you think of that chivalry and how amazing that chivalry was because everybody's happy.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's joy filled.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody is, is, uh, making merriment.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Is that a statement?

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Making merriment.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Making merriment.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, all of that, all that was taking place.

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's what happens.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_02]: That's what it's going to look like when Christ comes back.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_02]: There's going to be joy.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_02]: There's going to be celebration.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_02]: There's going to be merriment.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_02]: There's going to be activity, festivity, but it's going to last forever.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_02]: I was going to say, for all eternity.

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Right?

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_02]: That's my kind of party.

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_02]: So, so folks, that's what we have to look forward to.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_02]: And I, I think what I've tried to do with the parable of the virgins and the, and of

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_02]: course you've just heard the parable, the talents that we've talked quite a bit about

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_02]: and how necessary it is for us to use the talents and gifts that God has given us until

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_02]: he comes back.

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Those two parables go together, right?

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_02]: So Jesus in one hand is saying, okay, I'm coming back at any time.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Light your lamps, keep your faith fed through the word of God.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_02]: But on the other hand, also we prepare for the second coming of Christ by using our gifts

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_02]: and talents to serve him.

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So Kent, thanks so much.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_02]: What an exciting time.

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I know.

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Just to think that I've got a room prepared for me.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh man.

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_01]: It's incredible.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_02]: It is incredible.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And the word of God is incredible.

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And thanks everybody for watching another DT.

[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And God bless your week.

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_02]: God bless your week too.
