[00:00:07] Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. Today's podcast is really a good one for those of you who want to defend your faith when other people accuse you of believing a myth or a legend or a fairy tale.
[00:00:18] We're asking the question today, how do you know that Jesus is the Son of God?
[00:00:25] Well, one of the reasons we know that is because all those Old Testament prophecies that were fulfilled in the life of Christ, the chances of that happening are infinitesimal to one, right?
[00:00:36] He fulfilled those prophecies and that in and of itself is amazing. Think about all the miracles.
[00:00:42] Number two, think about all the miracles that he performed that validated he was who he claimed to be.
[00:00:47] Giving sight to the blind, causing the deaf to hear the lame to walk, raising the dead and on and on and on.
[00:00:52] All these miracles validate and verify that he was who he claimed to be, that he's the Son of God.
[00:00:58] Thirdly, the resurrection of Jesus. Who does that?
[00:01:02] God does that. God defeated death. Christ defeated the grave. And because of that, he is the Son of God.
[00:01:09] But here's the fourth reason how we know that Jesus is the Son of God.
[00:01:13] Remember when the book of Matthew chapter 26 and the religious leaders are accusing Jesus of all kinds of things he never said and he never did.
[00:01:21] And he didn't even dignify those things with any kind of response.
[00:01:25] Finally, the high priest says this in verse 62.
[00:01:29] And the high priest stood up and said, have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?
[00:01:34] But Jesus remained silent. We talked about that yesterday.
[00:01:37] And the high priest said to him, I adjure you by the living God.
[00:01:41] In other words, you're under oath. I adjure you by the living God.
[00:01:44] Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.
[00:01:47] Jesus said to him, you have said so.
[00:01:51] In other words, what you're saying about me is true.
[00:01:54] If you're saying I'm the Son of God, that's who I am.
[00:01:59] Remember when Jesus rose from the dead and he appeared to Thomas.
[00:02:02] The first time appeared to all the disciples, everybody except Thomas.
[00:02:06] Then the following week, he appeared to Thomas too.
[00:02:09] And Thomas got down on his knees.
[00:02:12] We don't know that for sure, but I assume he did.
[00:02:14] He got down on his knees and he said about Jesus, my Lord and my God.
[00:02:18] Jesus never, when people said you're the Son of God, he never said no, no, you got somebody else.
[00:02:24] It's not me.
[00:02:25] Remember when Jesus was beginning his public ministry and he was walking by John the Baptist.
[00:02:30] Remember this?
[00:02:31] And John the Baptist pointed at him and said, behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
[00:02:35] Did Jesus say, I'm out.
[00:02:39] John, you're not, you're not accurate when you say that.
[00:02:42] You're talking about somebody else.
[00:02:44] I'm not the Son of God.
[00:02:45] I'm not the Lamb of God.
[00:02:46] I'm not going to take away people's sins.
[00:02:48] When people said that about Jesus, that he's the Lamb of God, the Son of God, the Savior of the world, the Christ, the Son of the living God, on and on and on.
[00:02:56] He never said, no, I'm not.
[00:02:58] And how do we know he's the Son of God?
[00:03:00] Look at all the stuff he did.
[00:03:02] Look at all the stuff he said.
[00:03:03] Look at the prophecies that he fulfilled.
[00:03:05] Look at his resurrection and on and on and on.
[00:03:07] Now, if he's the Son of God, and he is, then we know that what he has to say about our life is true.
[00:03:16] He says to us, come to me, all you who are weak and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
[00:03:24] And it's true.
[00:03:25] He does just that.
[00:03:28] If we feel guilty about our sin, listen to what the scriptures say.
[00:03:32] If we confess our sin, God is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
[00:03:39] Does God do that for the sake of Christ?
[00:03:42] Yes, he does.
[00:03:44] Jesus said himself in John chapter 11 at the graveside of his dear friend Lazarus.
[00:03:51] He said, I am the resurrection and the life.
[00:03:54] He who believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.
[00:03:57] And he lives and believes in me shall never die because Jesus is the Christ because he's the Son of God.
[00:04:03] That's true.
[00:04:04] When we take our final breath, we'll be ushered into eternity.
[00:04:08] We will never die.
[00:04:10] Why?
[00:04:11] Because Christ defeated the grave.
[00:04:12] When Jesus was ready to ascend up in heaven, he told his disciples, lo, I'm with you always, even at the very end of the age.
[00:04:20] But that wasn't just for them.
[00:04:22] That's for us, too.
[00:04:23] How do we know that's true?
[00:04:24] Because he's the Son of God.
[00:04:26] Right?
[00:04:27] And remember when he finally did ascend, an angel said, why do you stand there looking up into heaven?
[00:04:32] This Jesus who's gone up in heaven will come back in like manner.
[00:04:35] How do we know that's true?
[00:04:36] Because he's the Son of God.
[00:04:38] And so you can bank on that.
[00:04:40] You can rely on that.
[00:04:41] You can build your life on that.
[00:04:43] You can trust those promises.
[00:04:46] So my friend, have no reservation, no doubt, no apprehension about who Jesus is.
[00:04:51] He is the Son of God.
[00:04:53] And we said in this podcast, and again, this is to kind of equip you regarding those who come to you and say, how do you know that this Jesus of Nazareth, this historical figure is really the Son of God?
[00:05:03] Okay.
[00:05:14] So, hope that's helpful for you today.
