John 17:7 - Jesus said that everything he had, had been given to him from God, the Father! Can we say the same thing?

[00:00:00] Daily Truths This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman. Hi everybody! Welcome back to Daily Truths. There are two ways to look at life. Here's one way. Everything I have, I've earned, I've achieved, and I get the credit. The other philosophy or movement or view of life

[00:00:23] is to realize that everything comes from God and He gets all the credit. If the philosophy of life is everything comes from me and I get the credit, it's easier to keep those things to ourselves. If we understand that everything comes from God and He gets the credit, it's easier to give things away. Jesus talked about that in the upper room in John 17, verse 7. Listen to this.

[00:00:50] Now they know, he's talking about the disciples, they know that everything that you have given me is from you. In other words, Jesus was saying, my life, incarnation, my life, my ministry, my work, the mandate and mission that you have given me all comes from you.

[00:01:15] Wow! What a statement! Jesus was saying, you're the giver of these good gifts that I'm manifesting, that I'm carrying out to carry out the work and ministry and to preach the word that you've given me to do. I give you all credit, honor and glory.

[00:01:30] Now my friends, if that was good enough for Jesus, may it be good enough for us. Everything we have, the opportunities, the activities, the gifts, the skills, the mindset, the experience, the body, even faith that we have in Jesus is all given to us by God. And He gets all the credit, right?

[00:01:56] Jesus was saying here, everything I have, Father, you've given me and I give you all the glory. We can say the very same thing. Everything you've given me, Heavenly Father, comes from you and I give you all the glory. I had a DT many years ago called giving credit where credit is due. There's two philosophies of life. A lot of people that we experience, that we're around, that we live with, maybe that we work with, maybe we go to school with,

[00:02:23] they think that everything they have is something they mustered up on their own. They deserve it, they work for it, they merited it, they put in the time, the expertise, the experience, the education, whatever it is. But Christians understand that Stewardship 101 says God is the owner of all things and we are just managing it for His glory. By the way, I said something theologically to see if you were paying attention.

[00:02:51] We know that Jesus existed before the creation of the world. He's eternal. His physical life took place in the incarnation when He was conceived by the Holy Spirit inside the womb. So don't send me an email saying, oh, Jesus is eternal and His life did not begin at conception. Well, His physical life did. His human life did at conception. We know that.

[00:03:15] Anyway, 30,000 foot view of this is give God all the praise and honor and glory for what you have. Deflect yourselves from wanting to do this. Look at what I've done. Look at what I've achieved. Look at how good I am. Look at how many gifts I have. Look at how great I am. All that kind of stuff. Two ways to look at life. God is a giver of all good gifts or I've merited these things on my own. Don't be the latter. Be the former. Give all glory to God.

[00:03:44] And that is today's Daily Truth. Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ, understanding that what you have today comes from Him. Have a great day in Christ. That is today's Daily Truth.
