Another Insight About Jesus Payer Life…. For You! | John 17:15

[00:00:00] Real Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman. Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. Every once in a while in my study I come upon something in this incredible book called the Bible that is so cool. I get so excited to share with you because it's something that I really didn't know, really didn't think about, really didn't contemplate much.

[00:00:24] And maybe in the back of my mind I knew it, but I really didn't embrace it. I really didn't live according to it. I really didn't think about it much. But today I want you to think about this incredible thing that Jesus is telling us to help us during times of temptation and negative sinful influences in the world that are all around us. Wow, what a statement Jesus is making here. Now we live in a world where a lot of people isolate themselves from the world.

[00:00:54] I think of a certain group that lives isolated away from everybody and you know who I'm talking about. I think about the Essenes in the first century who isolated themselves completely from the world. I think about monks who hold themselves up in a monastery sometimes completely isolated from the world. That's the way Luther lived for a while. But is that biblical? Is that what the Lord wants of us?

[00:01:20] And we're going to look at the text today to discover the answer that Jesus gives us. In the book of John chapter 17, listen to this incredible word spoken by Jesus in verse 15.

[00:01:48] Who's Jesus talking to there? He's talking to the Father. And he's saying in behalf of the disciples and in behalf of you and me, Lord, I don't expect them to live out of the world. They're living in the world. Help them serve the world. Help them save the world. Help them testify of what I've done in a world. But Lord, preserve them from evil influences and from the temptations of the devil.

[00:02:18] Wow! What a statement Jesus is saying there. So in an ongoing way, Jesus is praying to God the Father regarding your walk with the Lord. That our faith would be strengthened. That we'd be shielded from temptation. That negative worldly sinful influences would not infiltrate our life. And it's not up to us necessarily. It's up to God the Father to protect us from those things. And how does he do that? He does that through the word.

[00:02:47] He does that through Christian fellowship. He does that through prayer. He does that through being a part of a church and all these different kind of things. It's then that the Father can work mightily to shield us from the influences of the devil and the negative sinful influences around us. Wow! What a statement. So think about this. Jesus is praying in your behalf right now to God the Father that God the Father would keep you from sinful influences,

[00:03:16] would keep you from temptations, and would draw you closer to him and strengthen your faith. Whew! How cool is that? So my friends, when this prayer is realized in your life, when a temptation comes your way and you walk away from negative sinful influences around us, that are so much a part of this world, have no control, no power, no dominion over you.

[00:03:43] When you're living a life that is dedicated to the Lord Jesus, that is living for him and with him and in communion and fellowship with him. When temptations are coming your way and you're walking the other way, give all glory to God the Father who has shielded you and protected you from those things. Praise be to God. So, bottom line of this devotion, God doesn't want us to live out of the world, okay?

[00:04:10] But to not be influenced by the world. That's the bottom line of this devotion. And we pray that God the Father would protect us from the evil one day in and day out. And when that prayer is realized, right? Not only is Jesus praying that, we can pray that too. And when that prayer is realized, give all thanks and honor and praise to almighty God for what he has done in your life. Amen? Amen. Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ.
