America's Response to the Gospel... | Classic DT

[00:00:00] Real Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman. Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. I got a big question for you today. What is the response of the Gospel of people in America? We're in Matthew chapter 23 and Jesus says this about the city of Jerusalem. Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those

[00:00:26] who are sent to it. We've talked about that in the days before, that the prophets in the Old Testament were sent to them, leaders of the church, if you will, in the Old Testament were sent to them and they stoned them, rejected them, rejected their message, put them to death. Okay, so Jesus is talking about what's happened in history in the town of Jerusalem. So he says, oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it. How often would I have gathered

[00:00:52] your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings and you would not? In other words, Jesus was talking about the many times he'd been to Jerusalem preaching, teaching, sharing things about the kingdom of God and people generally rejected what he had to say. And he said, how often would I have gathered you like a hen gathers its chicks? And if you know anything about farming, that's what a hen does.

[00:01:19] When the chicks are gathered around and it starts to rain or there's inclement weather, what does the hen do? Gathers the chicks under his or her, actually her wings, right? You're getting your genders mixed up, Pastor Dave. So Jesus has compared himself to a hen that gathers its chicks and really he's saying, that's what I want to do with you, Jerusalem. And you wouldn't hear of it. You persistently

[00:01:46] rejected the message that I gave. Okay? So what's the response to the gospel here in America? You think about it, the gospel has never been more prevalent here in the United States through broadcasts, through television. It seems like in small towns, there's churches on every corner, through radio and television podcasts and so forth and so on. The gospel is getting out. I've never, I have a lot of

[00:02:14] other competition regarding, it's not competition really, I'm not doing this to be in competition with other people, but there's a lot of Christian podcasts today, right? So it's not like people can't access that. But generally speaking, what's happening here in America? And we can say why it's happening, secular media, secular universities, all that kind of stuff. But the bottom line is people, generally speaking, are rejecting the gospel here in America. Church attendance is going down. There's less

[00:02:44] Christians here in America than there's ever been per capita or percentage wise. So what's happening? People are hardening their hearts, right? They hear the gospel. They hear about people who know Jesus as Savior. They put them down, make fun of them, tell us that Christianity isn't real, that the Bible is just a myth, that it's just a bunch of fairy tales and on and on and on, that we evolved from mapes. And so people are hardening their hearts to the gospel here in America. It's the same thing

[00:03:13] that Jesus was talking about in Jerusalem. People were hardening their heart to the message of the gospel. And by the way, people have that power. They can hear the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ and through the power that's inbred in them, through their sinful resistant nature, they can resist the gospel. They can harden their hearts. And that's what's happening here in America. That's what happened in Jerusalem. So what needs to happen here in America? And I've said it many times,

[00:03:41] and I'll say it again. There needs to be a revival here in America. Every church in America needs to make its mission this, to reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ, not to preach the social gospel, not to feed the hungry or help the poor. That's part of it for sure. But the bottom line is the gospel must get out. And the mandate of Jesus to the church was to go and make disciples of all nations.

[00:04:10] How do we do that? Preaching the law, which convicts us of sin and preaching the gospel, which leads us to the cradle cross and empty tomb of Jesus Christ. The gospel must get out. So we need to pray for revival and every church in America must be evangelical in its mission to preach and teach the good news of God's love for us in Jesus Christ. My friends, this is the only way that things will change

[00:04:40] here in America. The only thing that could change Jerusalem was the gospel. Here's the problem. They rejected it. And we can't help it if people reject the message, but the message must get out. So bottom line of this message today, pray for revival, a spiritual reformation and revival here in the United States. Don't stop praying. Don't stop believing and don't stop proclaiming what Jesus Christ has done for you.
