Will We Reign with Christ in Heaven? | Matthew 24:47

[00:00:08] Everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. What are we going to be doing when we get to heaven?

[00:00:12] I'm asked that a lot, you know, I mean are we going to be sitting on a cloud playing a harp or we just

[00:00:17] going to hang out or we're just going to glorify God all the time, sing in the praise of all the life.

[00:00:22] What are we going to be doing in part when we get to heaven? What a question that is right?

[00:00:28] I can remember when I got to peace Lutheran Church some 27 years ago.

[00:00:33] So I asked my head elder at that time, what is my job description? What am I supposed to do?

[00:00:38] And he said three words, you're in charge.

[00:00:42] Okay.

[00:00:45] I had no idea what it meant that I was in charge.

[00:00:50] Really, I wasn't there where all kinds of different groups and committees and boards and church council

[00:00:55] and all this that I kind of had to submit to, right?

[00:00:58] I really wasn't in charge. And even when I tried to be in charge, it wasn't fun.

[00:01:04] There was conflict, there was lots of meetings, oftentimes people were mad at me because the decisions I made

[00:01:11] you know, I'd go to sleep sometimes really upset because I was trying to do the best I can.

[00:01:15] But management in my skill set is not really there. I really don't like to tell people what to do.

[00:01:23] I really don't like the rule and lead.

[00:01:26] I had a bicker though at one time who told me he said, you know, past today, view and I are so different.

[00:01:32] I love telling people what to do.

[00:01:35] Now he's been in full-time ministry for about 12 years and he doesn't say that anymore.

[00:01:43] Management, ruling, leadership is not easy. Ask any person.

[00:01:48] And many of you I've talked to. Many of you were listening to DT right now. You've been in management positions.

[00:01:54] I've never met anybody was in a management position who was ruling, leading other people.

[00:01:59] I just love it. It is so good. There's nothing like it. No, it is not easy to lead.

[00:02:06] It is not easy to be a manager, a ruler, a leader. You're always having a target on your back.

[00:02:16] But Jesus says this about Christians who will lead and rule when we get to have a not only Christian leaders, but within this context.

[00:02:27] I think Jesus means anybody who's a follower of Jesus when we get to heaven, we will rule. We will reign with him.

[00:02:35] This is what it says in verse 47, a Matthew chapter 24.

[00:02:40] Truly I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. He's not talking just about Christian leaders there.

[00:02:47] He's talking about anybody that believes in Jesus.

[00:02:50] Listen to this. Second Timothy says those who endure with him will also reign with him.

[00:02:58] Well, Revelation 22 verse 4 says, and no longer will we need sunlight or moonlight or light itself.

[00:03:05] For God will be our light and we will reign with him.

[00:03:10] Holy cow, what does that mean? When we get to heaven, we will rule with the Lord Jesus over all things.

[00:03:17] But here's the big difference. There won't be any conflict. There won't be people mad at you.

[00:03:22] There's not going to be a bunch of meetings. You're not going to have, okay. All of you are in favor say I.

[00:03:29] I all of you are opposed. Double I.

[00:03:34] I don't want a meeting like that. None of that. So that's one of the things we're going to be doing in heaven. We're going to be ruling and reigning with Christ.

[00:03:45] What's that going to look like? I'm really not sure, but it's going to be glorious.

[00:03:51] It's going to be awesome. It's not going to be stress producing.

[00:03:56] It's not going to be difficult. It's going to be exalting. It's going to be wonderful. It's going to be magnificent.

[00:04:05] Leadership.

[00:04:08] Rooling.

[00:04:09] Management.

[00:04:11] Wonderful.

[00:04:13] Yes, just you wait.

[00:04:15] It will be beyond your wildest dreams. We will rule and reign with Jesus Christ.

[00:04:25] But a great word that is for us today, especially those of you who are managers.

[00:04:33] Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ. And that is today's daily truth.
