[00:00:00] Real Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.

[00:00:07] Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. We've been talking about the Olivet Discourse.

[00:00:11] This is a long conversation that Jesus had with a few of His disciples on the Mount of Olives.

[00:00:16] And He talked about the second coming, He talked about the destruction of Jerusalem, He talked about the parable of the Talents, the parable of the virgins, all of this and so much more.

[00:00:25] He mainly, as we'd already said, He mainly was talking about the second coming of our Lord Jesus, talking about His second coming.

[00:00:32] So now, He ends that discourse, again He's in the Mount of Olives, and He says this in Matthew 26, we're in Matthew 26 by the way,

[00:00:41] Matthew 26 verse 1, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, I just described some of the sayings He said,

[00:00:48] He said to His disciples, you know that after two days, the Passover is coming.

[00:00:54] Now remember, this was during Holy Week. And so He's saying in just a couple days, I'm going to be celebrating the Passover with you, my disciples.

[00:01:03] So that means that this day was Tuesday of Holy Week when He said the Olivet Discourse.

[00:01:09] And we've been saying that all along. And then He said, I'm going to celebrate the Passover.

[00:01:15] Now what happened with the Passover? You know there were ten plagues placed on the Egyptians to cause Pharaoh to try to let the people go.

[00:01:23] And of course, he wouldn't do it until the tenth plague. And what was the tenth plague?

[00:01:27] The killing of the firstborn of each Egyptian household. Okay? But God, listen to this, God told the people of God, the Israelites, to take a lamb, to kill it, to place the blood on the doorpost.

[00:01:41] And then He would pass over, the angel of death would pass over and say, when I see the blood, you will be saved. Right?

[00:01:48] Now, Jesus, just a couple days later, celebrates His Supper, the Lord's Supper with His disciples. Right?

[00:01:57] And He said, take, eat. This is my body. Take, drink. This is my blood.

[00:02:01] And then the next day, what happened?

[00:02:03] He allowed Himself to be nailed to a piece of wood, to be crucified on a cross, shedding His blood.

[00:02:11] And God basically is saying, if you trust in my Son, who shed His blood on the cross, when I see the blood, I will pass over.

[00:02:21] And you'll be spared, rescued, and delivered from sin, death, and the power of the devil.

[00:02:28] When I see the blood. The blood was shed.

[00:02:33] Christ suffered and bled and died on the cross.

[00:02:36] And because He suffered and bled and died on the cross, and God passes over and sees the blood.

[00:02:42] We are under the grace of God.

[00:02:44] We're under the blood of Christ.

[00:02:45] The blood of God's Son, Jesus Christ, cleanses us from all sin.

[00:02:51] So as a result of the blood that was shed on the cross, you're a child of God.

[00:02:56] Your sins are forgiven.

[00:02:57] You're at peace. Eternal life is yours.

[00:03:00] The gates of heaven are open to you because the blood that was shed on the cross and God passing over saves, rescues, and delivers you.

[00:03:10] So here's the bottom line of this devotion today.

[00:03:14] Thank God for the blood that was shed on the cross.

[00:03:17] And think about this.

[00:03:18] Jesus was a holy, unblemished lamb.

[00:03:21] The lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

[00:03:23] Remember in John chapter 1, that's who John the Baptist described Jesus to be.

[00:03:28] He said, Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

[00:03:31] So we behold, in other words, through the eyes of faith, behold Jesus, transfixed on that cross, suffering and bleeding and dying on that cross so that we are spared, so that we are delivered.

[00:03:44] My friends, I've said it many times, and I'll say it again.

[00:03:47] I can never overemphasize the fact that we're not saved by our works.

[00:03:51] We're saved by the blood shed on Calvary's cross.

[00:03:54] He totally did all the work.

[00:03:57] We can't contribute to our salvation.

[00:03:59] We can't add to the finished work of Christ.

[00:04:02] He did it all and he did it for you.

[00:04:05] So when God sees the blood of his son shed on the cross, you're saved.

[00:04:14] And today, I encourage you to just thank God for the salvation that you have in Christ.

[00:04:21] Go about your activities today, celebrating, rejoicing and thanking God for what he's done for you through his son.

[00:04:30] And that is today's Daily Truth.

[00:04:33] Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ.
