[00:00:00] Real Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.

[00:00:07] Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. I can remember when I was growing up, if I got punished for doing something wrong, the punishment was horrible. Sometimes I was sent to my room, sometimes I was spanked, sometimes I was grounded. The punishment was never, ever enjoyable.

[00:00:24] As a matter of fact, if it lasted just for a few hours, I thought, oh man, oh man, you know, I can't wait until I'm not punished. Listen to what this says in verse 46 of Matthew chapter 25.

[00:00:37] And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. What's this talking about? It's talking about those who are not believers will be sent to punishment that is eternal, but believers unto eternal life.

[00:00:54] Now what is it that puts us in a right relationship with God? You know what it is. It's faith in Jesus. And so if people don't have faith in Jesus, they go to eternal punishment.

[00:01:04] But the punishment for those who don't believe in Christ is far more severe than anything we can possibly imagine here on earth.

[00:01:12] When you were disciplined, when you were brought up and your parents disciplined you or punished you, it was probably not that big a deal. It was a big deal to me, it seemed like, but compared to eternal punishment, oh my goodness, my friends, this is why we need to get the gospel out.

[00:01:26] We want people to be saved. We don't want them to face eternal punishment. And we've talked about that. It's total separation from God. It's perpetual pain. It's burning. It's hot. And it goes on forever.

[00:01:37] Who wants that? I know I don't. And in the Lutheran church, we preach salvation by grace through faith in Christ, consistently preaching the gospel.

[00:01:47] We don't preach about the fire and brimstone of hell very much, but I do want you to know that that's a real place.

[00:01:53] And the reason we want people to know Jesus is so that they don't spend eternity there in hell, but rather eternity in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ.

[00:02:03] So what will Jesus say to people who don't believe in him? Away from me, you evildoers, into eternal punishment.

[00:02:10] Oh my goodness, those are words we as believers will never hear. And as a matter of fact, we don't want anyone to hear them.

[00:02:16] So let's proclaim the gospel with as many people as we can to the Lord Jesus Christ so that on that final day, they say, enter into my kingdom where the joy and perpetual happiness that only can have, one can only have through faith in Jesus is theirs.

[00:02:33] Okay? All right. Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ. And that is today's Daily Truth.
