[00:00:00] Real Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman. Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. If you ever had a day that went so well or so badly, at the end of the day you said, man, oh man, what a day. This was quite a day. But if it went badly, this was quite a day. Right?

[00:00:24] Well, we're in the book of Matthew chapter 27. Christ has just died. We talked about the temple curtain being torn in two yesterday. And then we pick up this verse, verse 51, and the earth shook and the rocks were split. That was emblematic and symbolic that God's power and presence was there. God did amazing and majestic and powerful things, oftentimes brought on by an earthquake. And so that was one of the times, this was one of the times when that was the occurrence. Verse 52, listen to this.

[00:00:53] The tombs also were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised. And coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. What? So the moment that Christ died, many dead folks were raised from the dead. And then according to this, they stayed in those tombs until Sunday morning when Christ rose from the dead.

[00:01:22] And my question is, what were they doing during that time? During that 36 hours or whatever it was. Were they playing cards? Were they having a party? Did they just hang out? Anyway, being silly. Okay. Anyway, on Easter Sunday morning, they appeared to people and maybe it was their relatives, right? Uncle Joe died seven or eight years before all of a sudden on Sunday morning walks into the house and appears.

[00:01:49] Can you imagine what that was like for those folks? Now, listen to this. That same day, Christ was raised from the dead. And so maybe later that day, they heard the disciples say, hey, we've seen the Lord. These people heard the disciples say that we've seen the Lord. He's alive. So not only did their dead relatives appear to them that day, but also they heard from the disciples possibly that Jesus had been raised from the dead.

[00:02:16] At the end of the day, when they laid their heads on their pillows to go to sleep, if they had pillows, when they laid their heads on their pillows to go to sleep, they had to say to themselves or to one another, this was quite a day. Right? Now, what about us? Because Christ died our death on the cross, paying the full penalty for our sin.

[00:02:42] Death has been defeated and eternal life is ours through repentance and faith in what he's done. Not only that, but because Christ has been raised. The Bible says we too shall be raised. And when we're raised and we're elevated to the glorious status of being called children of God and taken home to be with the Lord. Do you know what we can say? This was quite a day. Now, only believers can say that.

[00:03:08] Only believers have the assurance of a life that never ends and victory beyond defeat and joy beyond sorrow and life beyond death. Only believers have that. And we can say when Christ comes back and he takes us from the graves and we're ushered home to be with him forever. This was quite a day. My friends, rejoice in that and bask in that and celebrate that and thank God for that. Because we're chosen by God before the creation of the world to be his own.

[00:03:37] And because death has been defeated and eternal life is ours and we're raised from the dead to be with our Lord Jesus. We can rejoice every day. And no matter what's going on in your day, when we focus on that, when we have tunnel vision on that, there may be things going on in your life physically or relationally or financially or emotionally that can bring you down and can make you say at the end of the day, this was quite a day. Right.

[00:04:04] But because Christ lives and because he's defeated death and because we're children of God and because we're heirs of heaven and because our sins are forgiven. Holy cow. We can say every day. This was quite a day. And that's what the people said on Easter Sunday morning when their loved ones who had died years before appear to them. And then they heard later that day, Jesus is alive. That was quite a day. And every day.

[00:04:34] Hand in hand with our Savior, a faith relationship with him, beginning the day with him, ending the day with him. We can say to one another and to the Lord. This was quite a day. Thanks be to God. And that is today's Daily Truth. Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for tuning in to Daily Truths with Dave Allman.
