The Inheritance is Yours! | Matthew 25:34

[00:00:07] We're going to continue with our reading of Matthew 25 and I'll read it verse 31 and then finish with verse 34.

[00:00:14] When the Son of Man comes in His glory and all His angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne.

[00:00:20] We use the word awesome to describe what that's going to be like. The other day before Him will be gathered all the nations

[00:00:26] and He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

[00:00:31] We talked about that the other day. Then He will place the sheep on His right, but the goats on His left.

[00:00:37] Then the King will say to those on His right, Come you who are blessed by my Father.

[00:00:45] Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

[00:00:49] So I love this. When Jesus comes back we're going to stand on His right side.

[00:00:54] And this says that we as sheep, remember we talked about the sheep and the goats. Do you guys remember that?

[00:00:59] Right? We separated the sheep from the goats and those who are goats are non-believers and those who are sheep are the believers.

[00:01:06] And so Jesus is going to tell us, Come and inherit the kingdom.

[00:01:11] Now when you think of an inheritance, it's something that you receive that you really didn't earn. Right?

[00:01:19] And so we didn't earn salvation. We can't buy our way to heaven. We can't work our way to heaven.

[00:01:26] Our good works will not save us. We inherit eternal life and forgiveness of sins because someone else paid the price.

[00:01:35] Someone gained the inheritance for us. And that's Jesus through His life, death and resurrection.

[00:01:41] And as a result of that, we get this marvelous, wonderful, incomparable treasure, this marvelous inheritance that He earned for us.

[00:01:50] The reason we're going to heaven, the reason our sins are forgiven is not because we earned it,

[00:01:55] but we received this incredible, incomparable inheritance that Jesus has given us through what He's done.

[00:02:03] And we talked yesterday about what He's done for all of us.

[00:02:05] He lived a life that we could never live. He obeyed the commandments that we can never keep.

[00:02:11] He sacrificed Himself on the cross as a perfect holy sacrifice for our sin.

[00:02:17] He triumphed over death through His triumphant resurrection.

[00:02:22] And through faith in what He's done, we receive this incredible inheritance.

[00:02:30] And that inheritance is yours today.

[00:02:34] You don't have to do anything to make God love you anymore.

[00:02:37] There's nothing that you can do that can make God love you any more than He does right now.

[00:02:42] There's nothing that you can do badly that can make God love you any less.

[00:02:47] He loves us unconditionally.

[00:02:50] He loves us with no strings attached.

[00:02:53] And yesterday we talked about this marvelous privilege and honor of being on the right hand of God.

[00:02:58] And we said that He made us and He claimed us as His very own.

[00:03:02] And He purchased us through His Son's precious blood shed on the cross.

[00:03:06] That, again, is your inheritance.

[00:03:11] There's a story told about a little boy who fashioned and molded this boat.

[00:03:15] He was really a good carpenter kind of kid.

[00:03:17] And he fashioned and molded this boat and made it with his own hands.

[00:03:20] He painted it. He crafted it. He designed it.

[00:03:23] And finally, when it was ready to sail, he put it on this river.

[00:03:26] And he had it attached to his string.

[00:03:28] This was back in the 1950s.

[00:03:30] And somehow the wind came up and the string broke.

[00:03:34] And it sailed down the river.

[00:03:35] And he thought he'd never see this little boat that he had fashioned with his own hands ever again.

[00:03:41] Well, about six months later, he found the boat that he had made in the toy store window of his local town.

[00:03:47] And he went in to the toy store owner and he said,

[00:03:50] Hey, that's my boat. I made that boat.

[00:03:53] And the toy store owner said, Well, it's not yours anymore. It's mine.

[00:03:57] Somebody brought it to me. It's in the window now.

[00:04:00] If you want that boat, even if you made it, you have to purchase it.

[00:04:06] And the little boy didn't have any money.

[00:04:08] And so he went out and he mowed lawns and trimmed bushes and shoveled walks, all the things that you do.

[00:04:13] It took him like 10 months to get the money back to buy the boat because it was like 50 bucks, which is a lot of money in the 1950s.

[00:04:20] So finally, after many months, he goes back to the toy store owner and he has a $50 bill and he puts it on the counter.

[00:04:26] And the toy store owner just walks over to the window, grabs a boat, gives it to him.

[00:04:30] The little boy grabs a boat, takes it outside.

[00:04:33] And he says, Now you're twice mine.

[00:04:38] First, I made you.

[00:04:40] And then I bought you.

[00:04:45] This is what God has done for us through his son.

[00:04:48] Remember, we talked about yesterday that God doesn't make junk.

[00:04:51] And a lot of times we compare ourselves to other people and we say, I wish I was more like him or I wish I'd be this kind of body type or whatever.

[00:04:58] God made you. We said this yesterday.

[00:05:01] Just the way he wants you to be.

[00:05:04] And just result, rejoice and exult and and thank God that you are who you are.

[00:05:10] First, he made you.

[00:05:12] But then he purchased you through his son's precious blood.

[00:05:15] And do you know what God can say about each and every one of you here today who trust in his son?

[00:05:19] First, I made you.

[00:05:22] And then I bought you.

[00:05:24] Go and claim your inheritance.

[00:05:27] It's the best inheritance of all.

[00:05:31] Amen.

[00:05:32] Amen.
