[00:00:00] We'll truth, Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman That is, basically we're not married in heaven but then he talks about this regarding the resurrection and it says this in verse 31. And as for the resurrection of dead, have

[00:00:41] you not read what was said to you by God, I'm the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. Wow, what's his

[00:00:56] saying? First of all he talks about Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and he talks about them in the present tense, not in the past tense. In other words, they died but they're sold

[00:01:05] departed from their body and they went to live in the presence of God who is the God over the living. Right? And then basically saying that those guys are going to be raised,

[00:01:16] their bodies are going to be raised, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, their bodies are going to be raised from the dead. So he's really basically ascertaining and stating two things. Number one, our souls are eternal. We trust in Jesus. We go to be with Jesus when we pass

[00:01:31] on and number two, we're going to be raised from the dead. Now this is incredibly comforting for you who lost loved ones who trust in Jesus. Where are they now? They're in the presence

[00:01:43] of Jesus. And we talked about this yesterday when Saint Paul was at the end of his earthly life. He said, I have a desire to depart and be with Christ for me to live as Christ

[00:01:52] but to die as gain. So what we're saying is when a person dies, they're sold the parts from their body and they go to be with Jesus. We talked about the penantent thief a couple

[00:02:01] days ago, right? So that's what happens to people who die in the Lord Jesus. They're soul separates from their body and they go to live in the presence of Jesus and exalt his name forever. But then our souls are reunited with our bodies at the resurrection day.

[00:02:18] I love what Jesus is saying here. He's saying to these sadacies that denied the resurrection. Hey guys, there is eternal life. Our souls are immortal and because our souls are immortal

[00:02:34] when you die and you trust in me, you go to be with me and heaven. How cool is that? So here's the marvelous comfort I have for you today. Don't be afraid of death. Don't be afraid

[00:02:47] of when the Lord's going to call you home. Don't be afraid of oh my goodness, is it going to be this day or that day? There's no reason to be afraid of it. This is why we look at death

[00:02:57] and as it says in 1 Corinthians 15, or death where's your sting? Or grave where's your victory? The sting of death is sin and the power is sin is a law but thanks be to God who gives us a victory

[00:03:09] through our Lord Jesus Christ. Here's the incredible thing. That victory is yours today through faith in Jesus. The sadacies denied the immortality of the soul and denied the resurrection the dead. We as Christians uphold the immortality of the soul and the resurrection of the dead.

[00:03:30] This is why we're Christians and we talked about before if there's no life beyond the grave, no victory beyond defeat. If our soul doesn't depart from our body and go to be with Jesus, if there's no resurrection of the dead, we're just wasting our time on Sunday mornings,

[00:03:44] wasting our time watching DD, wasting our time going to Bible studies and small groups, eat drinking, be merry for tomorrow we die. That would be our philosophy. And here's the thing. That's a philosophy of 75% of people on planet earth who don't believe in the immortality of

[00:04:03] the soul and the resurrection of the dead. We do. And this verse today, Holy cow, Jesus said it best when he said God is not the God of the dead but the living. And he mentions

[00:04:15] Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. How cool is that that these three great patriarchs of the faith? Their soul is with the Lord Jesus and on resurrection day, their soul will be reunited with their body. What's going to happen to them will happen to us? How cool is that?

[00:04:35] That is today's Daily Truth. Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for tuning in to Daily Truths with Dave Olman. Pastor Dave Olman is the pastor of Mount Hortchurch and Boulder, Colorado.
