Facing Your Challenges in Life Head On | Matthew 26:45-46

[00:00:07] Hi everybody, welcome back to Daily Truths. What is it in your life that you're facing that's difficult to do but you keep putting it off because it's so hard and it's so difficult and you just don't want to do it?

[00:00:20] Even though the Holy Spirit is impelling you inside to do it and you know it's the right thing, you just keep putting it off.

[00:00:27] We're in the book of Matthew chapter 26 and remember Jesus is in the Garden of Gethsemane.

[00:00:32] He has three of his disciples, Peter, James and John. He's gone off to praise, come to them three separate times and they're sleeping each time and then we pick it up in verse 45.

[00:00:42] Then he came to the disciples and said to them, sleep and take your rest later on. See the hour is at hand.

[00:00:48] And what Jesus meant by that is, I'm ready to go to the cross. This is what's going to happen.

[00:00:53] See the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands.

[00:00:58] Now listen to what he says, of sinners.

[00:01:01] Well, Pastor Dave, aren't we all sinners? Yes, but that's not what Jesus meant here.

[00:01:05] He's not talking categorically about all people who fall short of the glory of God.

[00:01:08] He's talking specifically about the Jewish leaders who have rejected him as Messiah, the Jewish leaders and the Jewish people who don't want to obey the commandments of the Old Testament ritual law.

[00:01:20] And thirdly, the Roman government and especially Roman soldiers who basically are going to do what the Jews tell him to do and relegate him to a common criminal's cross.

[00:01:30] This is what Jesus means when he says in the hands of sinners.

[00:01:33] And then he says this, listen to this, rise, let us be going. See, my betrayer is at hand.

[00:01:40] What did Jesus mean by that? Did he mean, hey guys, we're ready to be headed over the hands of sinful men.

[00:01:44] We need to get out of here. Let's escape. That's not what he meant at all.

[00:01:48] What he meant is Judas is coming with the detachment of soldiers and the religious leaders. Let's go and meet them.

[00:01:55] So Jesus was willing to face what he needed to face.

[00:02:00] Here's why, because he knew what the outcome would be.

[00:02:03] If he went to the cross, our salvation would be secured through his death on that cross.

[00:02:09] And that's great news.

[00:02:10] Now, what is it that you're facing in your life that's difficult and challenging and you keep putting it off?

[00:02:18] Listen to this.

[00:02:20] And the Holy Spirit is leading you. Listen to this.

[00:02:22] Go ahead and do it and know this, that the Lord will be with you and accompany you.

[00:02:28] You may not get the outcome you desire, but you've done the right thing, knowing indeed that the Lord was leading you and he'll bless you just the same.

[00:02:37] And leave the results to him.

[00:02:40] What is it you're putting off?

[00:02:42] What is it that you need to do that you've just hesitated in doing?

[00:02:46] May I encourage you to do it very, very soon.

[00:02:49] And if possible, do it today and the Lord will be with you.

[00:02:54] And that is today's Daily Truth.
