Dealing With the Law's Conviction | Matthew 21:45-46

[00:01:00] They perceive that he was speaking about them. And although they were seeking to arrest him,

[00:01:07] they fear the crowds because they held him to be a prophet.

[00:01:10] In other words, you're talking about things we're going to do wrong.

[00:01:13] But hey, so what? We're still going to do it. We're convicted, yeah, but we're not going to pay any attention.

[00:01:20] Folks, this is what sometimes happens to us even as followers of Jesus.

[00:01:25] The word tells us something or someone we know tells us something that's not in line with the word of God.

[00:01:30] And we may ignore it, not respect them, not listen to it, not want to change why because the hardness of our heart

[00:01:37] Because our sinful rebellious nature hears the bottom line of this little devotion today.

[00:01:43] When God can fix you or someone you trust maybe wife, a husband, a close friend, can fix you of something you've done wrong or you're doing wrong.

[00:01:52] Make it right, repent of it, put it in the hands of God.

[00:01:56] Know that Jesus died for it, but also he gives you a rich and powerful measure of his spirit to do what's right,

[00:02:03] to amend our sinful life and to walk in obedience before him.

[00:02:08] Jesus said these incredible words to the Pharisees, chief prescries and sadacies,

[00:02:13] you guys are messing up. You're going to nail me to a cross.

[00:02:17] I know that because I'm all knowing, but you're not willing to change.

[00:02:21] You're not willing to amend your sinful life. You're going to listen to what I say, pay no attention to it and go about your sinful business.

[00:02:29] Well, you know what? We can't do that.

[00:02:33] When God convicts us and we realize it and we've messed up, we make it right.

[00:02:39] And we do that through repentance and reaffirmation of faith in our Lord Jesus.

[00:02:47] There have been many times in my life when my wife has had to tell me, Dave, that's just wrong thinking.

[00:02:53] What are you thinking or what you said was hurtful, bubblebomb?

[00:02:57] You know what? I can either say, well, you know what? I had a reason to say that.

[00:03:02] Or I can take ownership from my wrongs, make it right with my wife or whoever it is

[00:03:07] that I have offended, but especially with God. We always have a choice when we're convicted by sin.

[00:03:14] We can ignore it or we can go with it and say, God be merciful to me as sinner.

[00:03:20] May your walk with the Lord Jesus be representative of that attitude that says,

[00:03:26] God, be merciful to me as sinner. And God through His Son, Jesus Christ will forgive, renew, cleanse,

[00:03:36] restore and empower us to walk in His ways.

[00:03:41] May it be so and may it be done to the glory of God's holy and saving name, amen.

[00:03:47] And that is today's daily truth.
