America's Response to the Gospel... | Matthew 23:37

[00:00:00] We'll truth, daily... this is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman. The prophets in the Old Testament were sent to them leaders of the church, if you well, in the Old Testament, were sent to them and they still never rejected them, rejected their message, put them to death.

[00:00:39] So Jesus is talking about what's happened in history in the town of Jerusalem. So He says, oh Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it. How often would I have gathered your children together as a hand, gathers or brood under wings,

[00:00:58] and you would not. In other words, Jesus was talking about the many times He'd been to Jerusalem, preaching, teaching, sharing things about the kingdom of God, and people generally rejected what He had to say.

[00:01:12] And He said, how often would I have gathered you like a hand, gathers its chicks? And if you know anything about farming, that's what a hand does. When the chicks are gathered around and it starts to rain or there's an climate weather,

[00:01:24] this is the end, do gathers the chicks under his or her, actually her wings. Her wings, right? And you're getting your generous mixed up past today. So Jesus has compared himself to a hand that gathers its chicks and really is saying,

[00:01:41] that's what I want to do with you Jerusalem and you wouldn't hear of it. You persistently rejected the message that I gave. So what's response to the gospel here in America? You think about it, the gospel has never been more prevalent here in the United States through

[00:02:00] broadcast, through television. It seems like in small towns, there's churches on every corner, through radio and television podcasts and so forth and so on. The gospel is getting out. I've never, I have a lot of other competition regarding, it's not competition really,

[00:02:17] I'm not doing this, to be in competition with other people. There's a lot of Christian podcasts today, right? So it's not like people can't access that. But generally speaking, what's happening here in America?

[00:02:30] And we can say why it's happening, a secular media, secular universities, all kind of stuff. But the bottom line is people generally speaking are rejecting the gospel here in America. Church attendance is going down. There's less Christians here in America than there's ever been per capita or percentage

[00:02:48] of wise. So what's happening? People are hardening their hearts, right? They hear the gospel, they hear about people who know Jesus as Savior, they put them down, make fun of them, tell us that Christianity is real, that the Bible is just a myth,

[00:03:03] that it's just a bunch of fairy tales and honor and honor that we evolved from apes. And so people are hardening their hearts to the gospel here in America. It's the same thing that Jesus was talking about in Jerusalem.

[00:03:16] People were hardening their heart to the message of the gospel. And by the way, people have that power. They can hear the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ and through the power that's in bread in them, through their sinful, resistant nature, they can resist the gospel.

[00:03:31] They can harden their hearts and that's what's happening here in America. That's what happened in Jerusalem. So what needs to happen here in America? And I've said it many times and I'll say it again. There needs to be a revival here in America.

[00:03:46] Every church in America needs to make its mission this to reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Not to preach the social gospel, not to feed the hungry or help the poor. That's part of it for sure.

[00:04:02] But the bottom line is the gospel must get out and the mandate of Jesus to the church was to go and make disciples' vall nations. How do we do that? The gospel is reaching the law which can fix us as sin and preaching the gospel, which leads

[00:04:17] us to the cradle cross in empty tomb of Jesus Christ. The gospel must get out. So we need to pray for revival and every church in America must be even juggle in its mission. To preach and teach the good news of God's love for us in Jesus Christ.

[00:04:36] My friends, this is the only way that things will change here in America. The only thing that could change Jerusalem was the gospel. Here's the problem, they rejected it and we can't help it if people reject the message but the message must get out.

[00:04:53] So bottom line of this message today pray for revival, a spiritual reformation and revival here in the United States. Don't stop praying, don't stop believing and don't stop proclaiming what Jesus Christ has done for you. And that is today's Daily Truth.
