[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll Truth Daily. This is Daily Truths with Dave Ahlman.

[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll be reading to you as rarely read and search and rarely preach on because it's not easy

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_01]: to figure out what Jesus is saying here. Plus, it's pretty frightening. Listen to this.

[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_01]: This is Matthew 24 verses 45 and reading all the way to the end of the chapter.

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course I've covered the first few verses that this already in previous D.T.s, but I want to read the whole passage in its context.

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Who then is the Faithful and Wise Servant?

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And we talked about that. That's pastors and Christian leaders, but also within that context is anyone who's a believer in Christ.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Who then is the Faithful and Wise Servant? Who is Master is set over as household? Remember the household or those who believe in Christ?

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_01]: To give them their food at the proper time, we said the food is Word of God.

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Blessed is that servant who is Master will find doing so when he comes.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_01]: In other words, he's using his gifts and talents to serve the Lord.

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Truly I say to you, He will set him over all his possessions.

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And yesterday we talked about remember that we're going to rule and reign with Christ in the kingdom.

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: He turned all kingdom. The new heaven and new earth when Christ comes back.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_01]: We talked about that a day or two ago.

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_01]: But if that wicked listen to this, if that wicked servant says to himself,

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_01]: my Master is delayed, basically saying, oh, we don't know when Jesus is coming back. He probably won't be back for a long time.

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_01]: My Master is delayed and begins to beat his fellow servants.

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: In other words, treat fellow Christians poorly and eat and drinks with drunkers.

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_01]: In other words, hangs out with unbelievers and does what unbelievers do.

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Drinks with drunkers. The Master that servant will come out on a day when he does not expect him.

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And an hour he does not know. We've talked about the suddenness of Christ's second coming, right?

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_01]: That it's going to come at a time when we least expect it.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_01]: When he does not expect him at an hour he does not know, listen to this and we'll cut him in pieces

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping in gnashing of tea.

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_01]: What this is saying is Christ is coming back in if a person is found in an unrepent, unbelieving state,

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_01]: evidence by the way they're living. They will be turnily separated from God, totally separated from the Father,

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_01]: living in a very real place like hell where there is torment and weeping and great regret over the opportunity

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_01]: one had to put their trust in Jesus and live for him and did not. Okay?

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_01]: So what is this saying? This saying obviously we always have to be prepared for the second coming of Christ,

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_01]: but also walk in an attitude of humility and repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ,

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: with a willingness to amend our sinful life. To not rebel against God,

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: to not walk into obedience and characterise this alive, not only unfaithful to Christ,

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_01]: but unwilling to live for him. We've said so many times that the way we prepare for the second coming of Christ

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_01]: is not only repentance and faith in Jesus, but a willingness to honor him, to serve him, to love him,

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_01]: to make him known, and to obey his word. And you're probably thinking now, wait a minute, Pastor Day.

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_01]: We're not saved by our works. That is correct. But there's a natural tendency in the life of a believer,

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_01]: to want to live for the Lord Jesus Christ consistently in life. That's empowered by the Holy Spirit

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_01]: and the Holy Spirit lives in us so that we believe in Christ, but also the Holy Spirit lives in us

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_01]: so that we can live for Christ. And really what Jesus is saying here is,

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm coming back, live a life that glorifies and honors me until I do come back.

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Now we know the Bible is replete with grace filled pastes or saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus alone.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_01]: But this passage, I believe, keeps us on our toes, right? That we would walk in humility,

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_01]: repentance and faith in Christ with an attitude that says, I want to obey you and follow you,

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Lord Jesus as a Lord of my life. We're not going to do that perfectly. Our lives are still punctuated by sin,

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: that comes from our sin nature, but the general tendency, 30,000 foot view of those who believe in Christ is,

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_01]: we love Jesus, we believe in Jesus and we want to honor Him with the life that is dedicated in.

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I believe that's the bottom line of what Jesus is telling us today in His Word, right?

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_01]: So little tough today, right? Not words of you. I mean, listen to this. This is,

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I read this and in church. This is kind of funny. Okay, the Master of that servant will come out on a day when he does not expect him

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_01]: to enter an hour. He does not know and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites in that place,

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_01]: there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. This is the gospel of the Lord. Not much gospel in that, right?

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just a stern warning that we always want to be prepared for the Lord's second coming with an attitude that says,

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to honor you and obey you and follow you, Lord Jesus all my days. And that is today's daily truth.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ.
